We had an absolutely wonderful experience at H2O...and I mean wonder-ful!!!! The people were extremely friendly and helpful and bent over backwards to be of assistance. It was like taking a step into the largest bazaar on the planet! The main floor is HUGE with rooms and nooks everywhere, neatly organized with just about anything you might need or want. The bathrooms are clean and bright...better than some restaurants!
The basement is open to the public once a month and it is still under discussion what day, but the wait is worth it. We found this terrific non-profit thrift store on Craigslist and drove from the coast to check it out...and boy, are we ever glad we did! The basement is chockful of goodies at DEEP, and I mean DEEP discounts...and they are all organized better than most stores. The kitchenware department alone made our jaws drop! It is better than a restaurant supply place...we found everything we were looking for at rock bottom prices...and it seemed there was someone there to help. One gentleman was so helpful and kind we almost wanted to take him home with us :-). We spent over an hour just going through items there and had to stop ourselves from buying more because even having driven a truck there, we had to restrain ourselves...
We went back upstairs and browsed through the "regularly priced goods"...it was almost like being in a dream...They have book sections on the main floor (a separate room) and upstairs on the second floor, where the books line the shelves for miles :-). One of the friendly volunteer ladies told us that they decided to put all the cookbooks on the main floor so that all the elderly ladies wouldn't have to climb the stairs...brought a tear to my eye, honest. I wanted to hug her.
The main floor goes on for miles, with rooms of tools, appliance departments, dishware, everything organized neatly. They even have an outdoor department with gardening items and outdoor furniture and tools etc.
Two hours later we made our way upstairs to the furniture and sports department...another wonderful surprise. As I said before, books line all the walls...they even have two rooms dedicated to Christmas goodies!!!!
I can go on and on, but will stop now and recommend H20 very HIGHLY to everybody. This "Thrift Store" is " head and shoulders above the crowd" and is there not just doing good works and is non-profit, but is filled with good deals and also with amazingly dedicated, generous, kind people. The best I've ever seen. You have to give it a try and also give to a great cause, while getting great deals. Anna...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I are massive collectors and frequent the same spots to pick through. We were excited to try a new store, looked around, found some stuff. Before we got to the counter my boyfriend asked a woman who worked there (Younger gal with bluish hair was very kind and helpful) if she could do four small stuffed animals for $10 instead of $5 each. She said she would have to ask the owner (an older excessively grumpy woman) but that they had been sitting in the case for as long as she could remember and we could probably work something out. This woman brought the owner to us and my boyfriend kindly inquired about the stuffed animals. The owner was extremely rude and responded that for ten we could get two and come back when we had more money (?). She made more rude comments and I had to pull my boyfriend away before things escalated. If I had not fallen in love with a vintage belt I would have walked out right then and there. We approached the counter and to be fair there was a sign there stating they do not take offers...probably would be a smarter option to display this as you enter not tucked behind the counter where you purchase. Also would be smart to not embarrass and insult your customers. We will not be returning which is sad since this is supposedly for a good cause...as I stated we frequent the same places sometimes multiple times a week. We would have been great customers and spent plenty of money but now we will not be returning. As a manager in customer service I was disgusted by the owner and do not recommend buying here. Prices werenât even really worth it on most items anyways. Please please work on treating people decently and providing good customer service. If I could give negative stars I would! This place NEEDS A NEW OWNER/MANGER! Fire rude boss lady and you might see more business judging by how many times she is mentioned in...
Read moreH2O actually cares about people whereas goodwill not so much or maybe not at all.
Goodwill takes items that I give to them, free nice items, and then instead of putting a price that somebody who needs it could afford they mark it up to almost retail.
I talked to one of the representatives of the directors of goodwill one day at the Dallas store and she told me that they were in the business of rehabilitating people which is a noble Idea of course they bring people in and help them get a job.
What she didnât tell me but which I already knew is that over the years Goodwillâs prices have gone up astronomically so theyâre rehabilitating people again a Noble idea but theyâre doing it at the expense of other people who themselves need to be rehabilitated.
I would encourage everybody to basically take your stuff at least the good stuff to H2O and let good will do their rehabilitation on there own dollars.
And very importantly make sure you read all let me stress all the fine print in their return agreement and they will never give you your money back just store credit.
H2O stores are about helping People all people and if you canât afford to pay for it they'll make you a heckuva deal.
I hope...
