So I ordered my sons 1st birthday cake a month early when I ordered my 5 y/o cake in October, I literally had to use cakes that were in the display to tell the non English speaking lady what I wanted. The first cake was PERFECT for my oldest son’s birthday. So I thought my 2nd cake would be too! They called me yesterday with a translator to confirm that I still wanted the cake for today. I told them yes, confirmed the details and told them tomorrow (today) is my son’s first birthday I’ll be there at 2. I get there to pick up the 1/2 street marble cake with whipped icing that says happy 1st birthday Legacy written on it and had to wait 6-8 mins to even be acknowledged by the lady that kept looking at me without saying anything! I stopped her and asked if someone can help me. She said “ no English, you pick up” I said yes andI gave her my name. She brought the cake out and the icing looks like buttercream and there’s nothing written on it! So I approached the manager and informed him that this was not the icing I ordered! He went and spoke with the lady that gave me the cake via Google translate and then had me wait while he got got a black lady name Niki who came over with a bad ass attitude off the top because “ she knows more about called than him” She came over like we were about to fight and with a ghetto country ass attitude she said “This is whipped icing but I guess we’ll give you a discount”! I told her this is not what I ordered and I showed her whipped cakes in the display and explained that I wanted whipped icing like the cakes I showed her! She literally was yelling at me, talking over me just being EXTREMELY RUDE and insisting they gave me what I ordered! I told her “like, you do realize your at work arguing with the customer because your bakery messed up my sons cake on his birthday!” Again with the attitude she say’s “ well we have two different whipped icing this one is satin whipped! I worked in plenty of bakeries so you can’t tell me it’s not whipped”. I informed her that I was engaged to the owner of a bakery and I know for sure that this is not what I asked for! She said “ well I’m just gone say your right to shut you up and the cake will be free”. I told her that I was right and that I didn’t need it free I needed it right! I own trucking company and a hair oil company and my husband is an owner operator hisself , I didn’t need a discount! She said that they “were NOT remaking my babies cake and she was done talking to me!” Then she got a lady from the deli to write on his cake, and whispered to her “they make her cake wrong and they didn’t finish it!” The deli lady proceeded to write on his cake and it looked like a 3 year old wrote it! I was so disappointed i just cried silently and left! I put the cake in the trash as soon as I got to home, had to call EVERYBODY that was expecting to come to his party TODAY and cancelled his party until SATURDAY so SAM’S can make his cake correctly! I mean this from the bottom of my heart and I shop and have my groceries delivered from Kroger 1-3 times a week and have been shopping at Kroger exclusively no matter where I lived for the last 25 years of my adult life but NEVER AGAIN! I have never felt so disappointed in my life and to mess over my son’s first birthday is unforgivable!! Having this big backed ghetto country classless ass lady arguing with me was very very UNPROFESSIONAL and needs to be addressed! I can NEVER get his first birthday back and because of that I will NEVER shop at Kroger again! I have informed all my friends and family and made sure they’ll never shop there again either. Unacceptable Kroger...
Read moreI am writing to express how deeply humiliated and disrespected I felt during my visit to Kroger yesterday at the self-checkout area. I needed to split my payment between card and cash, and when I realized the machine was card-only, I asked the employee overseeing the area, named Alexis, for help.
Instead of assisting me, Alexis responded dismissively, saying, “The machine clearly says no cash back, I don’t know what you’re going to do.” I calmly explained that I’ve been in this situation before and an associate was able to print the receipt and complete the transaction at a nearby register. Alexis said she couldn’t do that because she didn’t have the password and that she was “just helping out.”
When I asked her to call a manager, she flat-out said there was no manager available. I asked again what I was supposed to do, and she told me to get out of line and rescan all my groceries. I explained that I was not doing that — I simply needed someone to finish the transaction.
At this point, Alexis became hostile and unprofessional. She began mumbling disrespectful comments, including:
“It ain’t my fault you can’t read,” and “Reading is fundamental.”
I confronted her, telling her I can read just fine and that I hold a Bachelor’s in Business and a Real Estate License. Her response was:
“I don’t like my job.”
The way she spoke to me was completely uncalled for, humiliating, and unprofessional. Instead of helping a customer, she made the situation worse and tried to make me feel small for simply needing help. There was also a security guard standing nearby who did absolutely nothing as this exchange took place — no effort to step in or defuse the situation.
This experience was embarrassing, degrading, and it made me question Kroger’s hiring and training practices. No customer should ever be treated this way in your store.
I am requesting a call back from a store manager or district manager who is going to take this seriously and take real action — not just offer a half-hearted apology. This situation needs to be addressed so that no one else has to feel...
Read moreThis store is typical of Kroger, not great but not horrible. But they tend to be arrogant & dishonest. They can have long lines frequently. Here is the latest problem:I purchased a twin pack of Opti-free Replenish contact lens solution at this Kroger. When I returned home, I discovered that I had purchased the wrong Alcon product. I should have bought their Moist. I tried to return the wrong twin pack tonight (June 19th) and was refused a refund because the receipt that I thought was the one listing this product was so deteriorated by the goo on something that rubbed off on it that it was illegible. I asked the person at the counter & then the manager to check the bar code. They said that it would not appear. I doubted that. Then the manager checked the bar code against the entire store's sale of that exact product. He claimed that they had not sold that product within the last ten days. I had told them that I had purchased it within the last week or less. The manager denied what I said & I left in a huff. When I returned home, I went to the trash dumpster at the condo complex that I live in and dug through the garbage and found the receipt. I did have the wrong one earlier, but the receipt showed that I did purchase the Replenish at that Kroger on June 15th. I should not have to be subjected to such indignities and implicitly be called a liar. Either this manager is a liar or Kroger cannot keep their records accurately. Requiring a receipt when they can simply go by bar codes is a way to weasel out of returns. Bar codes should be enough to identify the product & when & where it was sold. Kroger is running a con game as they do all of the time by charging more than the price is marked on various products and then refusing to give the customer the product for free as they are supposed to do. Follow-up: I got call today from Kroger's corp HQ. Their rep had access to what I had purchased when I gave him the number off my Kroger card. He saw I was telling the truth & reversed the charge over the phone. He said the manager was...
