I am a Hilton Honors Digital Key app user. I was able to pick my room 207 for the nights of July 3rd-6th. Normally, the app lets you know your room is ready and you can head straight to it. In this hotel, I had to still physically go to the front desk. No biggie. Got all my luggage and service dog into the room and laid down when I noticed a horrible smell. It looks like the previous guest had thrown up in the bathroom and it wasnât fully cleaned and the smell was permeating the room. (There were literally still chucks of vomit behind the toilet and on the inside handlebar of the glass shower door). I called the front desk, but didnât get an answer. Luckily I was traveling with some OdoBan disinfectant spray and went to work as I was told the hotel was full and I figured a room change probably wouldnât happen (plus the hassle of moving all my stuff with a disability and ADA Service Dog). Completely ran hot water in all parts of the shower to clean out the chunks, then generously sprayed it top to bottom. Then, sprayed the corner, the entire toilet, and behind the toilet. Let that simmer for a good 30 mins while giving it periodic sprays to kill any smells and germs. Rinsed and wiped everything down and gave it one last spray and let the hot water continue to run in all parts of the shower. That took care of the smell and I was confident in using the bathroom. The Internet was mostly good, but would cut out intermittently. The TV had no internet connection, so I could not connect to Netflix or any other streaming apps, and the channels you could watch didnât have show titles available. The light fixture next to the bed didnât seem secured well to the wall and flickered, so I didnât use it. The hotel is in a gentrified area of Harry Hines Blvd next to the Red Cross, so there are unhoused persons lingering around. Didnât have a problem, but something to be aware of. On the positive. The rest of the room was clean. The bed was comfy for me (though Iâve never really liked Home 2Suitesâ pillows). The fridge came in handy with medication that needs to stay cold, and the microwave was perfect to warm up my leftovers. The room itself was pretty quiet - I could barely hear the fireworks outside, or the party that was being thrown in room 206 (though I could hear loud partygoers in the hallway heading to âthe birthday girlâsâ room). My service animal had no problem with the animal relief area. Upstairs neighbor was fairly heavy footed, but the noise created wasnât nearly as loud as other hotels Iâve been in. ADA parking the first night was fine, but was taken on night 2. The regular parking spots are kind of small, but I had no issue finding a spot. Some other reviewers have complained about the train noise, but I found that if you keep the fan running on the A/C unit, it drowns that out with the white noise created. I feel that the vomit in the bathroom issue was a one off issue and probably wouldnât happen again, but it was frustrating that nobody answered so I could report it and cleaned it myself. If I had to, Iâd stay here again, but Iâd also weigh the other Hilton properties in the area (Garden Inn and Anatole to name a couple) since I am a Hilton Honors AmEx holder and like to get the rewards points for Hilton loyalty. This trip was purely to get away from home and have a relaxing few days mainly staying in a hotel without having to worry about the stresses...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel for 4 nights, and it was by far the worst experience I have ever had--and I travel a lot. The first room had had mold in the shower, the water smelled like rotten eggs and the faucet had a very slow and weak stream of water. The front desk associate, Julissa, changed my room. I informed her that I was leaving for a family event, and that I would pick the keys up when I came back in that night, to which she said "okay". When I arrived, I was met with a very rude and disrespectful Rafael (general manager), who was short tempered and raised his voice often. He had no customer service skills and was dismissive of the issues that I had with the room, as well as the miscommunication regarding breakfast that morning and room service. He insisted that I was supposed to move rooms by 5pm, which I informed him that I was not made aware of that deadline. He began yelling and getting disrespectful again, and this time asked if I would like to check-out of the hotel. I informed him that I did not and that I did not appreciate being threatened. He then angrily gave me the keys and stormed off. I could hear him yelling while seeking out a staff person to open the door to our old room so that we could get our stuff. All of this happened in front of my child.. It was 11pm when we came back from our event, and our room had already been changed, so I am not sure what the issue was especially given the condition of the original room.
For additional context, there were several "breakdowns" in communication with the staff at this hotel. When we came down for breakfast on the first morning, there were three separate families looking for breakfast around 10am on a Friday, and we were all told that it actually ended at 9am. I was also told on the second day that room service only provides full service to rooms every four days, despite the fact that there is a sticker on the bathroom mirror clearly stating that room service is provided every other day. I requested room service on the third day, and was told that someone would come. We arrived back at the hotel that night and our room had not been serviced AT ALL, and the person at the from desk said that she was the only one there so the most she could do was give me towels AND I had to come down to the front desk to get them.
At check-out, I requested the information for the corporate office, from Julissa, who asked why I needed it. I told her I wanted to share the experience that I had and I did not feel that my feedback was welcome with Rafael considering how rude he had been. She then asked me to hold on, went and got Rafael from somewhere, and he came stomping up to the desk visibly upset. He told the hotel is a franchise and he is as far as the complaint can go. I then discussed my concerns again, but Rafael cut me off as said that housekeeping is actually every 3 days--until I pointed out what the sticker says in the room--and then he corrected himself by becoming loud and combative. He changed the subject, and brought up me picking up the keys to the room that we switched to two days prior. He again yelled, threatened me and attempted to cause a scene. I had to walk out of the hotel to end the conversation, and thankfully I had already checked out.
Avoid this hotel at all costs, there are much nicer places in...
Read moreThe hotel in general was pretty nice to stay a couple of nights to attend a concert happening nearby! The staff in general was nice, but I took notice that communication can be a bit dry and I can see how some other reviewers might take that as a rude exchange (though I believe it's because people don't have patience anymore). On the second day, we had an issue with our cards not working on the room door, and the staff were quick to resolve it! They stated that they've been having problems with some of the doors, which is completely understandable.
The room itself was cute, the decor and structure feels unique to this hotel branch, but I do believe that some things may need some renovations. As others have stated, the sliding door connected to the bathroom is rather.. odd, as it doesn't close all the way and there is a marginal gap. I really wish it was an actual door instead. There were times where each of us couldn't get into the kitchen area without feeling like we were invading each other's privacy. I also kind wish the toilet paper holder had more of an attachment to the wall, instead of just being a metal pole. Easy to switch out, but can easily make the roll fall off.
There were a couple of long, stray hairs near the underside of the bed and near the toilet area (unfortunately I don't have pictures), I know hair can be difficult to get rid of completely and it doesn't mean the room isn't clean, but I can understand that some people may find it a bit uncomfortable.
For the breakfast area, I thought the items served were decent, and can be a nice something to fuel you for the day! However (I know strangers can't be controlled), when others made messes (such as the lid being stuck in the oatmeal pot, the fruit cup being scooped empty with juice on the counter at the yogurt station, and waffle batter being just plain messy on the pans and containers) it took a hot minute for those examples to be cleaned up, say about 10 minutes, even when the bar wasn't crowded with people. I wish there was more due diligence to keep the breakfast area clean at all times and as soon as possible. It just felt disorganized.
I want to love the area the hotel is located in; I am not from this area in Texas, so I don't deeply understand the vibe/surroundings around here. But late at night, it just felt plain unsafe in the hotel's parking lot. Sometimes there would be strange cars running with no lights, not sitting in a parking spot, and there would be some homeless people that roam occasionally near the 7-11 and Chick-fil-A next door. I am very grateful that there were specific times when the hotel doors lock, as to not let any unwelcomed guests inside. But just be aware of your surroundings whenever you're in that parking lot. đ
Overall, definitely a chill experience with some bumps in the road, but nothing all that bad. The hotel is nice for a quick stay, but I wouldn't say it's great for longer. I'd say with some renovations and some more diligence with cleaning, this place can be...
