Darien Sportsplex — Local services in Darien

My girlfriend and I wanted to have a nice time skating. We got to the facility and it wasn't crowded at all. I don't own skates so I rented a pair. Come to find out that they haven't been sharpened in 3 months. I couldn't even stand on the ice without falling. I tried on three pairs and each time they were duller then a spoon. When asking what could be done to save my experience there the clerk at the front seat stated, "They (the skates) are all bad". I then asked to speak with a manager. He gave me nothing but excuses as to why the skates are dull. I wasn't looking for excuses! I was looking for a way to have a nice afternoon skating with my girlfriend. This is one of the nicer facilities I’ve visited with my kids playing rec hockey. The rinks aren’t separated just bleachers with an elevated walkway between them so noise spills over and can be distracting. The bleacher areas are also quite cold so bundle up! The lobby, restrooms, parking lot and all other areas are quite modern, clean and well maintained. The snack bar prices are a little high but there’s a gas station right down the road with good...

Here for a hockey tournament. Facility is reasonable - clean, in decent shape. Gave three stars because hand dryer in women's bathroom wasn't working, concessions closed even though we were still playing (before 9pm), games ran late all wknd and then they turned off the lights in the locker room on our kids.
