My experience with this store has been characterized by an endless string of incompetence. I first went to the Dartmouth Ace in early July to purchase a new key fob. I received a call on 7/16 informing me that the key had come in. I came by on my lunch break from work to pick the key up. When I arrived, I dealt with three twenty-something year old men. They had absolutely no idea where my key was; the amount of times I was asked, “What was the name on the order again” or “What kind of key?” was absurd. When they finally did find my key, they only then chose to inform me that their machine was broken and that they would not be able to cut nor program the key. Thus, my time on my lunch break had been thoroughly wasted. These employees were also rude; they seemed to be amused by my frustration, as I explained to them that I had a wedding that weekend that complicated my schedule. One of them snickered and walked away as he whispered under his breath, “Good luck.” I later realized that the Westport location had the key I was looking for; upon going to their location I was impressed by everyone’s professionalism. At the Westport location, they also commented that it was weird that I had to pay a $70 deposit on my key that I had ordered at Dartmouth; this comment made me second guess why I had been asked to pay a deposit as well. Thankfully they credited me the amount in Westport. Today, on 8/12, nearly a month after this occurred, I was awoken at 7 AM by a phone call from the Dartmouth Ace, telling me my key had come in. Confused, I realized that he must be referring to my key fob, which I had told them over a month ago to get rid of as I purchased the Westport one. About an hour later, I received a call AGAIN about the key fob. I told them then to not contact me again. My advice to everyone is to avoid this location run by incompetent and rude employees...
Read moreWe are so lucky to have this ACE hardware on Dartmouth Street. The traffic around the big box stores in town is terrible and this store has lots of parking. They have just about anything that I need for a surprise home repair. During a heavy rain storm they ran out of plastic fittings for a sump pump due to demand that day. I was perfectly OK with purchasing the steel version of the same fitting which they had in stock. The price difference was a about five dollars. The manager (Matt?) apologized for the lack of stock during a flooding rain and then between the time I walked away from him and got to the counter he radioed that I should be charged for the cheaper plastic fitting. Service and convenience are why I always go back to this...
Read moreFist I used to work at the New True Value on the Bridge to be honest.
So I was looking for a 7” chimney brush and some 6’ rods. Home Depot had nothing they told me to go to a stove shop. I called Rocky’s they told me they had the rods when I drove there they didn’t have any. Tractor Supply didn’t either.
But anyway I always thought True Value was the best hardware store around till I went to Ace Hardware yesterday. Ace has a much better layout than any of the stores I was at. Also the attention to detail and neatness of all the products especially the hose sold by the foot display. It’s just an easy store to shop and the Staff was very knowledgeable.
Great Store I would highly...
