Today, after visiting with a dear friend, I asked where to buy the freshest seafood and she suggested I go to Cape Quality Seafood. I Googled it, and first went into the seafood market . First, AND foremost, this IS a fresh seafood market , meaning 'fresh ocean air' smelling..,The staff was welcoming. After looking at all the wonderful array , I opted for crab cakes and the gentleman behind the counter graciously instructed me of the heating guidines. As I asked if they had a restaurant , he pointed me to their "inside " door , and I thanked him, as I walked outside to view their menu, then entered the restaurant . As it was not an extremely busy time, I was informed to sit where I wished. I opted for the cup of lobster bisque and small fish n chips and in lieu of fries, went with cole slaw and veg of the day, a sweet mashed potatoe. The bisque was filled with lobster chunks and delectable , the fish n chips , 2 generous filets, fresh , flakey, hot, melt in your mouth bites with light batter. The cole slaw, fresh with the right amount of dressing , not overdone. The sweet potatoes also delicious and refreshing change from chips, (fries). The beverage was regular tea. They do not offer green tea. The server, Tabitha, was courteous , professional , knowledgeable and a delight . The restaurant ambience is 'no nonsense ', basic and unfussy. I believe this establishment focuses on offering the best and freshest fare at reasonable prices for the customer along with their good service . I recommend this restaurant AND seafood market, for those desiring fresh seafood with good service . I hope to visit again...
Read moreWhen a place gets a universal thumbs up from your New England family, you know it must be good…..and they were right!
I ordered the blackened swordfish steak with fries and coleslaw. My eyes nearly popped out of my head when I saw just how thick it was! Most beef steaks at restaurants aren’t as thick as thing was. It was delicious! I’ve been to restaurants where the seasoning overpowers the fish itself. Not here. It had the perfect balance of that unique swordfish flavor with the blackened seasoning.
The decor of the place is simple/quaint. With a fish market at one of the building, you know that the fresh seafood is the star of the show, not any fancy decor.
Service was very friendly and attentive. The servers here actually take the time to get to know their customers. Big thumbs up there.
So, if you’re looking for authentic, fresh-from-the-sea, New England seafood in a no-frills, down home environment, Cape Quality Seafood is your place.
UPDATE I added their House Quahog & Lobster Mac n’ Cheese to my “tried” list.
Their House Quahog is mildy spicy & deep-fried for a crispy outside & soft, moist inside. It’s as large as it is delicious & surprisingly filling for an appetizer.
Their Lobster Mac n’ Cheese is as delicious as it sounds. Rich, creamy cheese with chunks of delicious New England Lobster throughout. The serving itself is large (like everything else on the menu) and very filling for even the...
Read moreWhen you first walk into the Restaurant section of Cape Quality Seafood, you might notice that the entryway is adorned with a selection of awards. Most of these are related, in some way, to clam chowder.
You'll discover, upon ordering the clam chowder, that these awards are well-earned because the dish served here is absolutely delicious.
All the other seafood entrees tried were also very impressive, and tasted extremely fresh. This makes sense, as the restaurant also has a seafood market section. Prices for big ticket items are 'market price', but clearly communicated on a chalk board inside and very fair for the high quality.
Service was attentive and very kind. They made the whole experience very enjoyable, despite our large party. We were particularly impressed that our entire order, with nearly ten people, was memorized without notation with pen or pencil and served without a single omission or mistake.
The interior of the restaurant is very homey, and well decorated. It was a delightful dining room.
All in all, worth the...
