Northgate Shopping Center — Local services in Davenport

I don't typically think of the Northgate Shopping Center as a discrete place. Rather, I think about the various businesses in the area, especially Hy Vee and McDonald's i.e. the ones that I end up going to the most when I'm in this part of Davenport.

I've stated this on my review of the Hy Vee and I'll restate it here again - this is my favorite Hy Vee in the Quad Cities area. It's clean, they've maintained and updated the store well, ad at it's core it is clearly a grocery store still. Sure, they have a Starbucks inside one of the entrances, but they're not trying to be a shoe store or nails salon like the Devils Glen Road location or be super fancy by having a Wahlburgers like the store on Utica Ridge Road. They do the grocery thing and do it well.

The McDonald's here is also a solid location. They're open late, which has enabled me to get a hot quick meal when coming off the odd shift from work when it happens. I've appreciated this more as I've gotten older - it's great to know they'll be there when I'm off work.

I'll continue coming out this way for the odd trip when I need some late night McDonald's or have to go to this specific Hy Vee. Thanks for being a great shopping...

This is not really a shopping center. Hy-Vee grocery is here and there is a McDonald's and Taco John's. But as for shopping there isn't any. I am not a fan of this Hy-Vee and I try not to have to go into this store. I much prefer Fresh Thyme the grocer across the street. Better produce and the staff is much more pleasant. They are helpful and the store is clean and I can always find what I go in for. This is only my observation and how I feel about this area. It's Hyvee nothing special. Used to be a great place to shop back when it was open 24/7. Now its always packed, their are tripping hazzards from them stocking while people are trying to shop. You are hard pressed to find any one working thats not a teenager or 20 something.

Don't get me wrong its clean, well lit and has things to offer most other places dont ( is there any where else any more?) like made to order take out or ready made take and heat dinners. I just feal that Hyvee has...
