Iâm giving two stars because there is nothing wrong with the knife kits I received. The company however I would recommend avoiding. Iâm a pregnant mama so I am going to try to be as calm as possible and not let hormones rage when describing my incredibly frustrating experiences with Jantz. I was a return customer and my first experience was fine but not uneventful. I had placed and order and a few days later was contacted and the company. They let me know they were out of a product in my order. I was refunded and I purchased different products through them. Unfortunately that did make my gift arrive late but I was able to gift after Christmas.
My second experience with Jantz was again with shipping. Upon checkout I was prompted with multiple options. I selected FedEx as it was not the cheapest option but had stated Taxes and Dutyâs would be included. The knives I ordered were about $30 and the shipping option was about $27. Days later I received a bill in the mail for $32 additional dutyâs and taxes. I log back into the website duplicated my cart and came up with the same shipping options. I took a screen shot to show Jantz what I was seeing. After emailing them with the photo and bill from FedEx the manager replied about two weeks later saying they have recently implemented new shipping options that include dutyâs and tax but it needs to be selected (I had selected this option), they also said they could not see the option to include duty and tax at checkout and when I once again looked all the shipping options were different and I also was no longer given the option and there were multiple different options available that were not listed when I had originally checked out.. their options on the website had changed. Jantz gave me two options 1. Pay the additional dutyâs and taxes or 2. Return the item at my own expense for an additional $30 to $40 on top of the shipping already paid.
If you are considering making a purchase that requires shipping I would suggest looking at...
Read moreI am tired of telling my customers I cant complete their knife as originally quoted. You ask why. Jantz website is never accurate. The last 3 orders I have made showed everything in stock. I placed the orders and the day to ship, I get a call, email or some form of communication telling me there is a problem with my order. Its always along the line of backorder.....fill in the blanks. If it is not in stock then take it off the website!!!!! I have also placed orders and part of the order ships. Then I find out and they will charge shipping again for something that you order that showed in stock but was not.
My last order (ORDER #245781) I placed a few days ago and was going to ship today. Guess what. Yup not in stock and had to tell another customer of the news that the supplier dropped the ball. I did call the customer service, fully expecting something I ordered was not in stock (showed in stock at time of order) and that was the case again. The person did not even offer to upgrade the only thing that was not in stock, which would have worked. I was asked if would like to pay the cost difference for their mess up. The cost of the upgrade was on scale material was small, but it was the principle, since this was not the first time I have had problems with stock issues. There was no attempt to retain my business after I explained this was the 3rd time this has happened, and I do believe in a row! I asked to cancel my order because of the poor service in ordering and the prior problems. She gladly cancelled my order. I went and looked in my account and the order was voided. The note was "customer" This goes on to show the quality control they have, which is poor at best. The note should have been " We messed up 3 times with this customer and did not bother to try to fix it" I need a dependable supplier so I can make custom knives and I am forced to find other suppliers.
Lets see if they still read these comments. I would be interested what they have...
Read moreI have ordered from Jantz a few times and it went well, until my last order that is. I ordered 2 sets of the (stabilized) presentation grade desert ironwood scales from them. When I worked on the first set it was riddled with large voids & cracks and it was so bad you canât even fix them with CA glue. I had to try the second set and it started out the same way so I stopped before wasting more time and was hoping for some help from Jantz. I have worked with desert ironwood many times and small cracks here & there can be expected but this was the worst I have ever see and not usable of a knife that my customer is paying good money for. I called them and sent the picks of how bad it was but was told there was nothing they can do and good luck. They should stand behind the things they sale or just say no replacements or refunds for any reason at all. The picture only shows a few of them, there are around 10 pictures that show them all, this is just one.
Shanna, thank you for the offer itâs more thoughtful than the rep I spoke with the other day. The desert ironwood was the worst I have ever used and I understand that all hard woods can have some issues but this was on another level, when large voids end up on the final profile of the handle there isnât much I can do and changing the profile of the blade isnât an option. I have used CA glue before but there are just to many to fill and it wouldnât look right to me. Again thanks for the offer but I wouldnât want wood from that current batch that you guys have. I will take the second set of scales I got from you guys to finish, but Iâm very nervous because it started off looking just like the other. I canât afford more wasted hours making handles again & again. Iâm disabled so Iâm slower than most but it helps my detail work, and CA glue all over just kills...
