Today I was seen here for an emergency possible stroke. They were actually closed and only doing virtual appointments. I had first driven to pauls valley and every single place i could go was closed. I am new to the area and i am unfamiliar and still learning my sense of direction. I found this place and rushed as fast as i could getting more incoherent throughout the drive. But managing my stress levels to keep my heart rate down. after getting a blood pressure rating of 140/118 and pulse of 145 at home, this was the only option I really had to get somewhere fast.
I went in and told the two nurses working what was going on and I was progressively showing declining symptoms by the second. I could understand everything that was being said but I couldn't process a thought or remember words. They very quickly called an ambulance and we're doing everything to calmy prep me for what they were pretty sure I was experiencing a stroke. They were extremely attentive and speaking to my family on my phone because I couldn't at that moment.
REMEMBER we are trying to keep me calm. I know this and am trying to engage in conversation to keep my stress down. They then have to video chat with one of the providers I'm sure for legal and policy reasons. While the two nurses are attending to me, the quack doctor from across the room on a phone screen starts screaming. "THE LEFT SIDE OF HER FACE IS DROOPING" In a very "omg everyone let's induce panic in a situation we need to be calm in because I need to feel important" I immediately look at the nurse and ask her to make her stop the best that I can speak because at this point my blood pressure was at 187/118 and she kept saying it over and over inducing me further into a panic attack. Because this ridiculous woman just absolutely HAD to cause pure chaos in this situation. I kept saying "she's making it worse, please make her stop" Which she still proceeds to keep saying it, a little bit quieter but I guess her notes are more important than me dying in that office. At this point she has shot my heart rate top number well above the 200's they then tell me and my entire family and anyone else involved that im indeed having a stroke. and this is when emts arrive. At this point the emt comes in and immediately sees that they are absolutely handling the entire situation wrong. She speaks to me calmy and reassures me that my face looks completely fine to her and she strongly does not believe it's a stroke but it's obvious it's still some crazy cardiac event. I was then sent to ardmore where we were able to completely stop my event and get me back to a more normal heart rate.
I strongly believe that due to my elevated heart rate and cardiac event I was experiencing, that provider would have been solely responsible for sending me into a full blown stroke.
I heard multiple comments stating "well when you work in the medical field for so long you kinda lose that bedside manor and are desensitized"
That is completely unacceptable and the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I get those things but that was NOT the case here. She completely made that comment to strike fear and panic in the situation because she needed to feel important and superior for God knows what reason. I am someone's mother. I have two young children. I kept stating over and over I would be fine if someone just shut the woman up and no one listened but the emt that finally arrived. I do not believe I would be where I am right now if it hadn't been for them pulling me out of that room that fast and calming me down. I strongly believe that provider would have kept going until I was unresponsive. And hell at that point she would have still be saying shit while i was dead in that room to stroke her ego and make herself feel smart.
That woman didn't just have "bad bedside manors" she 1000% knew what she was doing and that is absolutely vile and disgusting. I strongly believe this woman shouldn't practice medicine on any human being at this point, especially not in a high risk and emergency situation. Please...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI highly recommend Icare Urgent Care in Davis, Ok. I know Iām only one of a million cases, but being a busy mom and all, I needed to figure out what was going on with me ASAP, so I could keep up with my fast-paced life and kids. The only reason I chose Icare was because they had a Nurse Practitioner that I grew up with and trusted 100%: Kasi Jones. Had it not been for her response to my 1am cry for help to get me in the next morning, who knows where I would be today. She followed protocol to a T, and I was seen thinking I was going to get a quick diagnosis and some medicine, and Iād be better in a few days. Although she reminded me that she was a Nurse Practitioner, she then stated her opinion, which I asked for and then recommended that I go to the emergency room ASAP! Had it not been for her stern yet respectful, professional recommendation, I wouldāve just gone out of state, which I had planned on doing. Thankfully with her guidance, I went to the ER and was saved from what could have been a life or death situation. So once again, I highly recommend Kasi Jones at Icare Urgent Care in Davis; Iāll forever...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTerrible customer service! Front desk was very rude when arriving. Once in the office waiting room the nurse took my son temperature and blood oxygen level, did not look at anything else. Came back in with a strep test without even looking to see if his throat was red or swollen. I asked if they could at least look first before giving unnecessary tests. I was then asked if I was self pay ( not sure why this even matters). Nurse then stated she was going to have the provider come in. We waited a few minutes, and then decided with the care we were receiving to go somewhere else. When we went to leave the front desk lady, nurse, and provider were all sitting in a room together talking about us. Absolutely awful experience, 10/10 do NOT...
