I've been eyeballing this place for a while now. I tend to travel through Davis on the regular but just haven't had a chance until now to stop here.

I took a late lunch so it wasn't busy when I came in but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a packed house during the prime hours.

First impression is definitely how clean the place is. The bathrooms are pristine and while I was in there every table was bussed quickly and wipe down. You can see right into the kitchen when you walk in and that too is clean.

At this visit I ordered the two piece catfish basket. This meal came with what appeared to be fresh cut fries, a few hush puppies, a relish, lemons and the catfish. The catfish and fries were done to perfection. There wasn't a load of oil at the bottom of the basket, they were crispy, hot, well battered and had even more meat.

I highly recommend this spot if you're traveling through Davis. They deserve every star they're given and maybe more. This is truly a hole in the wall that you don't want to miss....

Was recommended this place so decided to stop by for breakfast. The waitress was very friendly and we had no problem being seated. Our drinks came fast and the coffee was very good. We placed our order and the kitchen was very quick to get it made. The portion sizes were a very good size and we really enjoyed our food. Our coffee was kept topped off and the things we requested like creamer and jelly were brought quickly. The waitress even remembered that my wife earlier in the meal had mentioned she would like her refill to go and brought it to her as we were getting ready to get up to leave. I live near this place but this was only my second time eating here. It was great the first time and even better this second time. I took family who were visiting from Iowa and they raved about it. My 23 year old son is a cheeseburger expert. Without anyone even asking, he announced to the waitress that his double cheese burger was the best he has ever had. High praise! I asked why and he said the beef was excellent quality, the bun was fresh and the cheese was melted just right. It was so good he took a picture to send to his pals back in Iowa. So there you go!
