United States Postal Service — Local services in Denham Springs

This review is regarding my mail carrier today. I was supposed to receive a package today, for 2 day shipping. I was home all morning and then got a text update that my package was attempted to be delivered and they'll try again tomorrow.

Problem #1 - I was home. And if anyone knocked, it wasn't loud enough for me to hear, or my kids, or even my two dogs.

Problem #2 - If they didn't deliver because the apartment office is closed today, and it wouldn't fit in my box... they are supposed to hand deliver to my door when the office is closed.

Problem #3 - There was no notice left on my door, or in my mailbox to show they tried to deliver.

Problem #4 - tomorrow is the 4th of July and they can't deliver tomorrow. So now, after choosing 2 day shipping, I'll have to wait 5 days.

I tried calling the post office to see if I could pick it up today, but the phones have been busy. Luckily for me, I ordered the item early and won't need it before next weekend, and the shipping was free with my Amazon prime membership. There's really nothing else that can be done, other than write this review. I'm just glad I don't have to stress about it. I will keep trying to let the carrier's boss know though. That's unacceptable service.

I gave 2 stars, instead of 1, just because I haven't spoken with anyone yet and don't know what they would do to handle it.

Update (next day): Turns out they are working today, and delivered a different package to me. Where's the package from yesterday? Wasn't it supposed to be re-attempted today?! This...

Second time in a row I have had a package go from baton rouge processing facility to Denham Springs USPS just to get STOLEN by an internal employee. I suspect it's the worker Martel Carter. They claimed BOTH times that the container arrived that my package should have been in but when they scanned all the packages in that container manually to go out for delivery mine is nowhere to be found rendering it lost. I have already had this exact same thing happen before last august where I waited after filing a missing mail request and the missing mail never showed up again after being told it was not in the container so the package was STOLEN not lost. It was more than likely stolen by one of the workers sorting the packages since it was definitely not misrouted and never showed up ever again. Here we are with this package and the same exact thing. Denham springs Supervisor for usps claimed my package was not in the container sent by Baton Rouge USPS. So either Baton Rouge has thieves or Denham Springs has thieves stealing packages in their waistband or something as they are sorting. I want the cameras at the facility to be reviewed to see what happened to my package and who was handling it. I am requesting that the USPS conduct an internal investigation, including reviewing camera footage from both the Denham Springs and Baton Rouge facilities for the relevant dates....

Edit: I've revised my review. My package arrived at the post office today, the 2nd. The lady on the phone was very helpful and got me sorted out. I was able to go pick it up.

The USPS all around isn't doing a very good job. I ordered a package from Amazon with one day delivery on a Friday evening. The package was supposed to have been here on the following Tuesday, March 1st. But for some reason they sent the package from MURFREESBORO, TN to HUMBLE, TX and it sat there the entire weekend, through Monday and Tuesday, and didn't leave TX until Tuesday, March 1st (the day it was supposed to arrive) night after 6PM to head for Denham Springs, Louisiana. I just can't fathom the stupidity behind this. It blows my mind. I took off work and sat around my house all day to make sure I could sign for this package, Amazon saying it will be here by 8PM Tuesday night the entire time. So I got my $20 refund from Amazon for the 1 day shipping that is turning out to have me waiting an entire 7 days. The USPS is not reliable and it's a wonder why Amazon charges a $20 shipping fee for a service that is totally inept in it's function. If it had been UPS, it would have been here Monday like one day shipping should be. I paid for a service and it wasn't...
