I have used 3 different departments in buddâs and have rated them all as follows:
The retail store is fine. The people are knowledgeable and friendly. The products might be a bit expensive/inflated compared to Home Depot or Loweâs but not so much that I would make a big fuss over it.
The construction department is frustrating and on some levels toeing the line of illegality. I had the construction department resurface my pool because the paint was chipping off and there were some leaking cracks. The construction manager told me that they would resurface the whole pool and solve the leaking cracks problem. He also heavily inferred that they would mud jack the concrete deck to be level with the pool and seal all of the concrete joints. At the end of the project, the only resurfaced the pool and seal around the pool coping and nothing else. When I asked them about the mud jacking and other concrete, they told me I would have to get an outside contractor/3rd party to do it but I would have to pay more for it and they wouldnât be involved. Felt very much like a bait and switch but so be it, canât make them do something that wasnât written in a contract I guess. I reached back out to the construction team a few weeks after the project was done to ask them about why I was still losing a lot of water from the pool after they said they would fix that problem, I never got a response. 0 follow up.
Lastly, the maintenance department. I have never seen a more dysfunctional department. No one in this department talks to anyone or shares any kind of information. I called them at least 6-7 times asking them to make sure their workers called me or just knocked on my door before they opened my gate and let themselves in and they never bothered to do it. They let my dogs out constantly so I had to chase them down to get them back in the house and they never apologized for it. They also frequently added things to my pool/filter without my approval for additional costs. They added a drainage hose to my filter that I never asked for and didnât want and charged me for it. However, when they noticed a leak in the filter selector, they called and asked if I wanted it replaced before charging me for that so itâs clearly not a policy to just say âf* it, add it on and charge âem). Lastly, they came out an additional time after I had told them to cancel service and you might think âoh hey, free maintenance!â Right? No, they came out, and left my pool pump timer box open and didnât tell anyone so when it rained, it blew the box and now itâs worthless and Iâll have to get an electrician and a new box to come out and fix it.
Cannot recommend you use someone else enough. At this point I think Iâll use Steveâs pool service or del Val before I ever set foot in...
Read moreThis review will hopefully prevent others from having to go through what we, and it appears other, long term customers have recently experienced with this company.
We have been a customer with Buddâs Pools for over 10 years, but will NOT be returning. This used to be a great company but over the last 2 years the prices have increased dramatically while the professionalism and work quality have significantly decreased.
Last year, the pool technician was completely unprofessional and did not complete all the opening steps although the prices significantly increased. We called and complained and my husband finished the pool opening. Although dissatisfied, we returned to Buddâs again this year.
This year, the pool technician busted up the concrete by the ladder cups. Although I was home, the technician did not notify me this happened and on my opening notes the technician noted the ladder cups were old and needed to be replaced. Both my husband and I called to complain about the lack of accountability and transparency and wanted reimbursement for the damaged concrete. The service writer and her supervisor Cheryl offered zero apology and questioned whether this actually occurred stating the ladder cups were old. At the end of the conversation, I requested that Buddâs not perform our closing. Cheryl stated we would be glad to refund your money and immediately hung up on me. We do not dispute the ladder cups were old and need replacing, but damaging someoneâs property, offering no apology and displaying zero accountability is not acceptable.
Price Increase: 2020 Opening: $318 2020 Closing: $318
2023 Opening: $430 2023 Closing: $430
2024: We were contacted and told if we did not prepay for both the opening and closing there would be an additional increase in pricing. Additionally, we were told if we paid by anything other than cash or check there would be a 3% increase in pricing. We opted to prepay.
2024 Opening paid by check: $450
Hopefully our experience does not happen to...
Read moreWe had a pool heater installed ($5,800.00) on Wednesday May 8th and then the pool was opened on Saturday the May 11th. I paid my deposit of $50.00 to lock in the opening date. So after paying for the heater in full, im figuring Budd's would give us a discount or "throw us a bone" for the opening cost. HELL NO! They wanted the full amount of $368.00. Im a Assistant Service Manager for a New car dealership. If a customer, a loyal customer spends that much money with me, it's a must i show appreciation by giving something. Not Budd's. If it wasn't for Barry and his wife Barb, I WOULD NEVER SPEND A PENNY WITH BUDD'S! On July 25th 2019 someone from Budd's pool responded to my review. First of all, i didn't have a problem with the service. The service Techs were GREAT like always. My problem was the fact that i paid $5800.00 for a heater to be installed and you charged me the full of amout for the opening. No discount, no consideration for the fact i spent $5800.00 for a heater 3 days ago. Also i scheduled and put a deposit for the opening the month prior before i even knew i was going to purchase the heater. So you did not "squeeze us in for the opening". What pissed me off is the fact that Budd's show no loyalty to their loyal customers. From the workers that test the pool water to the cashiers, they know my wife and I when we come there. As i said before, I work at a New Car Dealership Service Department. If a customer pays to have a engine or a transmission replace or any major work. I show my appreciation by getting the car detailed or take care of their next 1 or 2 oil changes. That shows the customer, we value your business but importantly you are not just a number or just a dollar. Obviously whom ever from Budd's that responded to my review didn't throughly read my review or comprehend what i was pointing out. Instead responding online, try picking up the phone and calling me. That's what I do if i have a unhappy...
