K & K Market — Local services in DeRidder

I went to K & K yesterday. Well I go there often but I don't know why I haven't written a review on Mr. Darrin and Mrs. Crystals store...smh! Look this store is what you are looking for for specialty meats (I'll post menu), seafood even scallops and gumbo crabs. They have Mandas smoke sausage which I have not been able to find on this side of Louisiana until I went to their store. Please don't go to Walmart or Brookshire to buy your fish. Go to K & K and get it fresh and not frozen. Even if you need bacon 🥓, they have it!! I fried fish for my family yesterday and it was delicious! If you're not going fishing and catching that catfish yourself then go on down to K&K. Last but not least the service has been amazing every single time I am there, they are the sweetest people!

Give back to mom and pop businesses in our Deridder community, they deserve it more than chain stores like Walmart.

Oh and I also purchased some awesome hand crafted soap from there. ( picture posted)

I don’t even give one star. Darrin is very rude if you have a concern about his products. We have been customers for years. We bought all our pork belly’s for bacon. I bought all my fryer chicken from him. The last visit I bought two chickens come home put them in freezer. The next day I got one out to fry that night. When it thawed I saw a dark spot on the breast. I cut it opened and it looked rotten and smelled bad. I called Darrin to let him know that I would put it back in freezer and when I come back to town I would bring it in to pick up another one. And he might want to look at the rest of the shipment. Well he yelled at me loud enough for my husband sitting across the room to hear him. In his 20 years there he has NEVER had any one complain of his products. My husband took the phone to try to diffuse the situation and Darrin wasn’t having it. So Tommy told him he would try to help him with his business. Plum out. Needless to say we will not do business...

One of the workers yelled at my hospitalized mother!!!! My mom called, from her hospital bed, to cancel her filet order. She was obviously not going to be able to be able to pick up her order, and she is one of the few people on this earth that would remember to call and cancel in her distressed and beat-down state. When informed of the need to cancel, the man on the phone angrily said that the meat had already been cut, thanks a lot, and slammed down the phone. My mom called back to say that she would be happy to pay for it if they would put it in the freezer and she would get it once she was discharged some time next week. The man would not let her get a word in and in her efforts to communicate with him in his irate state, she went into a cardiac event in which her room was stormed with nurses to try and get her heart rate down.
