DEFINITELY ONE OF THE BEST STEAKS I HAVE EVER HAD! I'm glad we decided to stop here instead of waiting until we got to San Antonio. We enjoyed the retro, country style decor of the place and friendly service. I swear nothing has changed in this place since I was a kid - except the salad bar was closed. We started off with fried mushrooms, which were small and really just ok. I preferred the ranch to the gravy for dipping. My son found a breaded clump of that soil mushrooms are grown in...🧐 mistakes happen ? 🤷‍♂️ Other than that, everything was excellent! My daughter really enjoyed her chicken and dumplins soup, and my son enjoyed his bacon cheeseburger - although I thought the price didn't match up to size, a 1/3 lb patty that sermed more like 1/4lb? with chips...fries $2.50 extra, so about $14.95 ??? It was a lot of good-looking bread, but I would stick with the real winner here, the steaks! My wife got a delicious chicken fried steak, the smaller portion, that had a flavorful and crispy crust and good, tender meat. The gravey could be A LOT better, but the salad and potato were EXCELLENT! When in Rome... since we were in cattle country, I went with their 16oz Ribeye and whoo-daddy, was I impressed! Worth every penny. It was juicy, cooked to a perfect medium, and had such great beef flavor...Fantastic! The loaded baked potato was also perfection. Soft and piping hot throughout with absolutely no hard undercooked spots like many other places. THIS PLACE DEFINITELY KNOWS ITS MEAT & POTATOES! Although I may not have been impressed with everything, I will definitely be back for the great service, the steak & baked potato, and I may even try their shrimp next time. It's definitely worth the road trip if you're in the...

Went there at the recommendation of some friends. The place was about 75% full. The wait for a table was about 10-15 minutes. The server was friendly and promptly took our order. Ordered some appetizers which consisted of an order of onion rings, fried mushrooms, and beans and cornbread. The orders were big generous portions. The onion rings were a bit undercooked as the onion was still hard. The fried mushrooms were served with a side of white gravy, but they would have been better served with a side of ranch dressing. The beans and cornbread was spot on, delicious. After they brought out the appetizers it took over an hour to get our entrees. Other patrons which arrived after we did got their orders and ate and left before we even got our orders. We asked one of the waitresses why there was such a delay and she said everyone's orders were taking long. Soon after our order was brought out. The portion were very generously sized. The prevalent complain was that the food was either salty or bland. The chicken fried steak had a burnt oil taste to the crust. It was not worth the long wait. Was disappointed in the quality of the food and though highly recommended I can only say that maybe it was just a bad day for the kitchen staff. Will try again to see if my experience is better. Right now neither recommend nor reject this place, try it out for your...

My husband and I are long haul truck drivers and so whenever we're driving through we try to stop there. I was disappointed in my fried oysters the last time we were there, the batter was extremely salty, and it was more batter and less oyster. I've had oysters there before without any issues but the last time we were there a couple of weeks ago it was a problem. Also the cocktail sauce tasted like straight ketchup, I did not detect any horseradish, so that was an issue as well. We explained it to the server and management and they were very understanding and accommodating and we were able to resolve the issue in a very satisfactory way. We figured maybe someone in the kitchen was new or there was a training issue or something like that because during the three years we've been coming there we've never had any issues and so to have one issue in 3 years I feel like it's pretty good odds. The place is very clean, the decor is exactly what you would expect from a Texas steakhouse, it's actually very cute, the people working there are very nice. We will...

We went for lunch on a Sunday. It was packed, but we had absolutely amazing service. They have a very robust menu with sandwiches, burgers, seafood, steaks, lots of different appetizers, salads, and some delicious looking pies and cakes. I had the buffet, which was a rather eclectic mix of enchiladas, fried catfish, green beans, corn, stuffed peppers, and cake for $12.95. No complaints about the buffet food. My companions had the filet, which was reasonable and perfectly cooked, and the chicken fried steak, also good. The sweet potato fries were extremely tasty, very buttery and they melted in your mouth. Very basic decor, just simple tables and chairs, with taxidermy scattered throughout and hundreds of cattle brands on the walls. It's not a new building, and the restroom could have used some attention. But overall this is a solid place.

I m disappointed as a first time dinner at the steakhouse. We ordered Tripple C steak 🥩 for two and beef tortilla soup as appetizer. The beef tortilla soup was really good, savory and tasty. Seasoned and cooked well. But not steak. I was hungry, the meat was really tough with tendons. I had 3 bites and decided not to finish it because I had to chew it forever. I Told the waitress about the meat, 1/3 of my portion are full of tendons. She said “Yah, if you have those parts, they are tough. “ My water class was empty and she never came to fill my glass…. 🤨. Well not a pleasant experience!
