There's Fun In Store — Local services in Dixon Township

--Edit for the owner's response-- I understand scarcity can drive up prices, and I could see that for the Assemble Starters (even though I still think $100 is WAY to much). But the boosters and regular starters are brand-new products at double MSRP, and there’s no added value to buying them here, just a higher price, higher even than online prices.

I’m happy to pay a bit more to support a store that invests in the games it sells, but in this case, it feels like I’m being asked to pay extra for nothing in return. If there’s no play space, no events, and no community support for the game, then what’s left to justify paying significantly more? “Either we don’t have it or this is the price” might be a business choice, but for customers, it’s a choice between paying extra for nothing… or shopping somewhere else. That’s why I chose to leave a review. Went in with my kids so they could spend some gift cards on Pokémon cards. While I was there, I figured I’d check out Bandai’s new Gundam card game — I’ve been a big Gundam nerd for years.

I’d heard the store sometimes overcharged, but I assumed that was just for singles or older out-of-print products. A brand-new game? Surely a Friendly Local Gaming Store would keep prices reasonable to help the game succeed, right?

Unfortunately, no. Boosters are $10 each (MSRP $5), starters are $35 (MSRP $12), and the Assemble Starters are $100 (MSRP $35). Even on eBay, scalpers are listing those Assemble Starters for $75 or less.

A new game already has a hard time gaining traction against giants like Magic and Pokémon. Pricing it this far above MSRP makes it nearly impossible for casual players like me to get into it — and that’s just sad.

Do better, guys....

Absolutely loved my visit to this toy and video game store! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly and knowledgeable staff who were more than happy to help me find the perfect card game for game night. The shelves are packed with an incredible variety of board games, collectible card games, and classic kid toys—there’s truly something for everyone, no matter your age or gaming experience. The atmosphere is warm, clean, and inviting, making it super comfortable to browse and explore new games. I especially appreciated the helpful recommendations and the chance to try out a few demo games right in the store. Whether you’re a seasoned gamer or just looking for a fun gift for a child, this shop is a local treasure. I left with a couple of new games, some cool trading cards, and a smile on my face. Highly recommended for anyone in the area—definitely a five...

The only place to find reliable stock of pokemon tcg products in the immediate area. Both times I’ve visited this store the staff was friendly and helped me with any questions I had.

Not sure what the agenda of the rapid fire 1 star reviews was so I’m here to tell you to ignore all of that if you’ve been looking for pokemon cards recently with no luck. The cards and packs are legitimate and definitely not “resealed” 😂, the products were reasonably priced if you’re aware of the fact that specialty stores can’t just sell everything they acquire at retail price when it isn’t available to them at less than this price in the quantity the customer...
