Long's Inc — Local services in Dodge City

My husband and I have spent over $400 at this store in 2 visits. First visit was great. No issues. Second visit also went well until we went to checkout. My husband is a combat veteran and will politely ask if a business offers a veteran discount at checkout. The woman working the register was kind and regretfully responded with a, “Sorry, we don’t.” A dark haired woman standing behind the register (had the presence of either a manager or owner) folding clothing also responded, “Just the price on that sale tag.” My husband understood and stated, “It never hurts to ask.” While that should have been the end of the subject, I sensed the dark haired woman was annoyed. She proceeded to interject, “Yeah, because if someone sees us offer a veteran discount, then the next person is going to expect a discount for something else. We have to treat everyone the same!” I felt as if she were trying to shame my husband for even asking. My husband doesn’t seek out praise for his service in the war…but he certainly shouldn’t be berated for inquiring about a veteran discount. It hurt me for him and I regret not making her aware of her actions in that moment. It was unnecessary and I felt she spoke to him like he was a child. We will be doing our shopping elsewhere...

I went into the store yesterday with aching and tired feet from my work boots. Beth greeted me and directed me towards the boots aisle. She informed me what I did wrong in picking my boots. She definitely took her time in showing me the difference in boots as I never had to wear boots for work. She had such a great welcoming attitude and great customer service. I had a great experience and walked out with a new pair of boots and super relieved. Will definitely keep doing business there!!...

Shop here for the quality and customer service!! We found Long's on google, while just passing through the area. Beth was so kind and helpful, she was able to answer all of our questions - and help us in the direction we needed with our gift ideas. She deserves much more recognition than this review!
