RUN!!! RUN VERY FAST AND FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS GYM! THEIR BUSINESS PRACTICES ARE PREDATORY AND DECEITFUL!!!! I have been trying to cancel my membership with them for MONTHS now! I was initially told I needed to mail a letter and given the address of their billing company, ABC Fitness Solutions. I realized I was still being charged so I called the gym, and no one answered (not a shock since they drastically reduced their staffing hours after a change in ownership), so I called the 888 phone number listed on Anytime's website when you click on "Billing Inquiries" and I was connected with a woman named Cherry who told me she canceled any future charges and would email the gym on my behalf to ask them to contact me about the months I'd been charged for since my attempted cancellation. Well...Matt at the gym contacted me via text and told me that Cherry didn't have the authorization to cancel my account and that I would continue to be charged. He told me I needed to mail a CERTIFIED letter requesting cancellation and that if it wasn't certified there was nothing he could do. At this point I am fuming that I have to write ANOTHER letter in the age of technology where you can handle nearly any other membership issue electronically, so I told him I would just tell my bank to stop the charges at which point he told me that if I were to do that they'd send me to collections. But when I asked him to verify where I needed to send this letter he suddenly stopped replying to my messages. So I called the 888 number again and this time talked to someone else who verified that Matt was right and Cherry had no authorization to cancel my membership. She said only the gym could do that and she wasn't able to tell me where to mail the cancelation letter, but that it wasn't to them...WHICH IS WHERE I WAS TOLD TO SEND THE LETTER IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!! So, this is the game... the gym tells you to notify the billing company and the billing company tells you to notify the gym and the both give you the run-around to keep your head spinning meanwhile they continue to collect your money. I can't scream it loud enough.... DO NOT GIVE ONE SECOND OF YOUR TIME OR ONE CENT OF YOUR MONEY TO...
Read moreThis club is a good choice if you work out in non-peak hours. At peak times, especially early morning on weekdays, there are two significant negatives. By far the biggest negative: they have only 3 bathrooms (all are for one-person; there are no locker rooms) with 2 having showers. Though they post an oft-violated limit of 10 minutes in the bathroom, what often happens is that no toilet is available (between all 3 bathrooms) for 10 minutes or more. As anyone who uses a health club knows, sometimes you can't wait that long! Bottom line here is that they need more toilets.
My other gripe would be a shortage of cardio equipment and dumbell free weights at peak times. As regards the latter, they have one set of each; most clubs I've belonged to with similar size membership have two sets, at least of the ones that are used most often.
This club really needs to re-think the bathroom situation and strict adherence to the 10 minute limit would not solve the problem. (As a result of this problem, my wife is now looking into other fitness options.) I would recommend they get rid of at least one of the tanning rooms to build more toilets and/or showers. The tanning rooms get very little use (fortunately, I'd say) and take up a lot of space at...
Read moreI’m a new member of Anytime Fitness in Downers Grove, and thus far, my experience has been wonderful. Joining was easy. I met with Matt – the club manager – to discuss membership. He was warm and welcoming. He listened intently to my priorities and needs, answered all my questions comprehensively, and explained each membership option very clearly. At no point did I feel as though he was upselling or talking me into unnecessary extras. Instead, he seemed genuinely interested in matching me with the level of membership that suited me best and would give me access to any/all resources that might be useful. The gym itself is smaller (with respect to square footage) than other well-known gyms. However, there is more than enough equipment – cardio, weights, functional movement, etc. – and space to go around – and the gym seems active / lively but not crowded / over-full. Everything is clean and organized. And the vibe is respectful and friendly. I’m very glad I transitioned from my previous fitness arrangements – this was a definite...
