I love this place! I had just landed and was looking for a place to hang out and do some reading while I waited for a friend. (A good book and beer? Yes, thank you!) It's relatively easy to access from the airport (O'hare) if you are train savvy. It was around 4-ish when I arrived and there wasn't that many people. The environment was pretty relaxed. I was able to get some reading done (Catch 22, if anyone is interested). The bar keep had a solid knowledge of the beers on tap, as well as beer in general. He was also very kind and accommodating.

After my friends arrived we just decided to stay and hang some more since the place is pretty chill and their beer selection is excellent. Throughout my time there I had the ALTERior Motive IPA (3.75 out of 5), Mosaic Motive (4.25 out of 5), and Bourbon Barrel Aged Alto Porto (4 out of 5). I have been coming here for a very long time, almost since they opened up. It used to be one of my favorite breweries, sadly not anymore. The atmosphere has definitely changed, and not for the better. Most of the staff are still friendly and accommodating, but not all them. It's also getting easier to find a seat, since they are not as popular as they used to be. They still have a good selection of regular beers and also seasonal beers. You can buy most beers to take home in a 64oz. growler or in a 32oz. crowler, you just pick your beer and they'll bottle it for you on the spot. They don't sell food but you can order from some of the local places and have it delivered. Dan's Pizza has a free delivery service to Alter Brewing. Came here for the first time on the afternoon of Saturday, December 18, 2021 and wondered why I didn’t come here sooner. The place was clean, energetic, and fun. The bartender Amy was amazing- very friendly, energetic, and knew the beer list very well. I got two beer flights, each with four beers, and all of them were very good to excellent. Know that the beer flights don’t have a fixed price, rather each beer has its own price for the flight and was reasonable given the high quality. My favorite was the ‘Power Off’ barrel aged stout which I highly recommend- made well for the style and one worthy to sip and enjoy. They sell beer in growlers, crowlers, bottles and cans- I strongly recommend to buy and take home! The brewery is in an industrial park which is clean and has plenty of spaces in the parking lot.
