One Shot Distillery & Brewery — Local services in Dripping Springs

Not sure what to say about this place. Some friends and I stopped by for drinks and a snack after a drive through the Hill Country. The black, white and red décor was a little jarring, but, to each his own. Our table couldn’t agree what to order so we took a vote and came up with a consensus. The servers are easy to spot with their armbands, so we hailed (heiled?) one and ordered. When the food and drinks came out it was nothing like what we wanted…completely different. We got the owner over and he explained that he knew better than us what we should have, so he made substitutions. Weird. He also said if we didn’t like it, he would call a bunch of his friends over to make sure we had things his way, and that our votes didn’t really matter to him. Just then a group in the back room beer hall started up a chorus of the Horst Wessel song. We didn’t know the words so we just decided to leave while we still could. The staff was friendly enough. The outdoor seating was well spaced, but it was awkward having a parking lot in between there and the taproom. It also made ordering and getting a beer very slow. The low stars are for the beer though. We tried the Maverick Pils and a Hefeweizen. Both were way off on style guidelines. (The bartender specifically told us the brewer was trying to make traditional German beers). The pils was too dark and lacked crispness. The Hefe was not hazy and the body was too weak. Both beers had off flavors that made them almost undrinkable. Oxidation in the pils and couldn’t quite discern the Hefe but I did not finish the pint. We did not try the liquor at all so can’t...

I have not been here. I rated to make a statement. First, by Texas standards I am a screaming fiscally conservative liberal. This review is specifically aimed to the individuals that specifically gave negative reviews, to Mr. Waldron, because of his political views and activities. Some, even, it appears, claim to have become ill, with no substantive reason. Some have specifically recommended to avoid this establishment soley based on political considerations.
