June 2024 It was hot outside but the kids were playing on the splash pad getting wet. Inside was a log of folks eating lunch. Given that we were able to order and find a place to sit at. It's very family friendly and the food is good. I had the Baja Chicken Sandwich with fries and it was tasty and pretty big sandwich. It also had a light kick to it. As for the place there is plenty of parking, very clean, outdoor seating, small bar inside and great service. August 2022 I love Route 12 Filling Station where its on our regular restaurant rotation. It is so casual where can order food, buy a beer and sit and enjoy the nice weather. On this day I took a chance and ordered the Grilled Salmon. The menu stated it was a salmon filet, fresh vegetables, and cilantro rice. I pretty much only had tacos here so excited to try something new. We sat in the front covered from the sun and watching kids play on the splash pad and playground. It is a very family place. There is a big bar serving cold drinks with north inside and outside access. Soon plates of food were placed in front of my wife and I and the grilled salmon looked spectacular. It was nothing I was expecting where it was presented like I was dining at a four star restaurant. It was a large thick piece of salmon nicely gilled with striped burn marks on top. It was sitting onto of rice and with veggies to the side on this square plate. I took one bite of the salmon and wow it had tremendous flavor of oak wood and buttery coating. It was perfectly cooked and complemented with the cilantro rice. I really enjoyed it.

In the middle of nowh- Hill Country is Route 12 Filling Station, a good place to eat at if you’re in the Dripping Springs area. The parking is good as it’s in a small strip of stores. There’s an outdoor dining area and a few more tables outfront for those choosing to dine with a dog like we did. The interior is clean and well decorated, and like their name implies, feels like you’re in an old gas station (in a good way). The staff is friendly and there’s a lot of options on the menu for you to choose from, just head to the front when you’re ready to order. We decided to grab a margherita pizza, chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and fries, and a burger patty for our dog. The margherita pizza was very impressive. The cheese and sauce all came together well, the crust was good and soft. It was also very filling per slice so you’re likely to take some leftovers like we did; they reheated well too. The chicken fried steak was solid, not the best but pretty flavorful. The gravy was good but the breading was a bit too light. The mashed potatoes were decent and the fries were about as expected. After the pretty good pizza, the subpar chicken fried steak was a bit of a letdown. The patty for our dog was pretty good, at least we think so cause he gobbled it up quick. Altogether, Route 12 Filling Station is a good spot to stop by and eat in the area, it seemed pretty popular with locals. If we were local we’d probably give it another go but unfortunately we’re confined to the never ending traffic of Austin.

First off, I have been in the bar/restaurant industry for 10+ years, previously a Bar and Grill GM, so you can trust this review.

This restaurant is fabulous all around! *Food is so, SO good! I have been here twice, first time I had their bacon wrapped jalapeno shrimp on a bed of rice. I am a huge shrimp lover and these were some of the BEST shrimp I have had in my life I was just blown away at the flavor and texture!Medium sized shrimp. Jalapeno wasn't over powering. Great portions. Sodas and teas are self serve and they have a bar. The frozen Strawberry margarita I had was PERFECTLY made. Perfectly proportioned. Smooth, not full of chunks of ice. Plenty of sugar on the rim (no salt sub sugar) with a lime. Adorable glassware. Very fast service. Don't know her name but the bartender was tall, skinny, long hair, very pretty. Kudos to her, because, I am picky *Reasonably priced, however the shrimp were a bit pricey but I would definitely go back and pay that amount again because they are just too good. Other menu items reasonably priced. Second time we went we had a fire grilled sicilian pizza. AGAIN one of the best I have had. Perfect for two. Quickly made and delivered. *Atmosphere is great. Calm vibe with nice people. Kid friendly with a small playground and big chalkboard. Inside and outside seating with top deck that overlooks the countryside, very nice on a sunny day. Highly recommend this restaurant Keep up...
