University of Dubuque — Local services in Dubuque

I sent them my test scores and transcripts which cost me 30$ just to do that I’ve left work full time and found part time because I was under the assumption I would be attending in fall 2019... I was told hey would talk to the admissions counselors ASAP... I was told I’ll be getting my acceptance letter in the mail... I got it... wasn’t an acceptance letter it was one saying there NOT accepting me because of my test scores and academic history.... I never thought I would go to college or be in school Again because of my past and I was lead on by Dubuque... I felt welcome at first and felt like it was a good college... I was wrong I will not recommend anyone to go to dubuque with out any sort of scholarship... because if your not good enough in there eyes they won’t accept you even if you were told...

They have a culture at UD of not really caring about the student experience. They built a multi-million dollar theatre and student center, but then they kick classes out when the president wants to schmooze rich donors. They did everything in their power to suffocate Greek Life until it died. And they do nothing to ensure that you get a quality education, even when you speak directly to the people in charge. They told me it was my fault that my academic advisor had screwed me. I signed up for classes she said were required and they were not, but I still had to pay...

People are nice but if you’re a student 90% of the staff here will talk down to you and treat you like a child. They take forever to get things fixed and don’t really care about the students here. It was -17 degrees and we still had class they had students walk from the dorms which is a 15 minute walk the high schools canceled school. Parking and the roads here forgot to mention that they are quick to give someone a ticket also. If you’re you like being treated as a decent human being definitely don’t come here cause staff here will go out of there...
