Tortilleria y Carniceria Migueleña — Local services in Durham

Hi, I'm a local, and I try to highlight exceptional experiences with businesses. I get nothing in trade for my reviews and you can't pay/bribe me to do so.

This is a small store that makes fresh Corn Tortillas every day. It's been recommended to me for a while now and I finally went in (after lunch) to grab some tortillas for some smoked pork I made over the weekend.

The person behind the counter was very friendly, and quickly helped me even though she was in conversation with someone. 2lb (minimum purchase) was roughly $4 and wow they were good. They were smooth, none of the mealy or gritty taste I'm used to.

I mean, my comparison is the store bought stuff, but these matched or were better than anything I've had from mexican food trucks. It's also important to note that they were still warm, and they wrap them up to keep them moist with paper wrap and then plastic.

They had a pretty impressive selection of international goods (mexican products that might be hard to find in the US) and all of their prices I saw were reasonable compared to prices in grocery stores (looking at you Harris Teeter)

It also seems they make a lot of other fresh goods like sausage, chorizo, etc but you may need to call ahead for big orders (I didn't check).

I would give them a try next time you're making...
