Whisk & Rye — Restaurant in Durham

Bought butter croissants, chocolate croissants, and sourdough bread. These were the worst chocolate croissants I've ever had, worse than retail store croissants - they were dry, stale, chewy, and obviously not freshly baked. I couldn't even finish one because it tasted so bad. Not sure what happened but it was a waste of money and effort driving there. Should never sell such poor pastries in a bakery.

Follow-up: The sourdough bread was also stale/hard/dry and so were the croissants, so I returned to the bakery within 1 hr of purchase to inquire. It was confirmed to me that the sourdough bread had been baked on Friday (2 days prior) and the croissants on Saturday (the day before). Apparently their website states the baking days, and these products are sold to prevent wastage, which is fine. This fact, however, should be clearly labeled next to the product in the display, which should also probably discounted too. This is a pretty deceptive practice so I hope the owner will rectify and be more transparent. Terribly disappointing and a waste of...

I love these guys SO MUCH. I work around the corner and frequent them regularly - the quality and service is always amazing! They strive for inclusivity and supporting fair businesses and practices. I'm happy to use my dollars to support those goals and look forward to see how this amazing business grows!

This was my first time at Whisk & Rye, and I was pleasantly surprised by the wide selection of savory pastries. Since moving to NC from Europe, it’s been hard to find a bakery with that offers savory pastries. I was shopping for the research group I work with at Duke, and with different dietary restrictions, I was able to find something for everyone.
