Brothers Marketplace - Duxbury — Local services in Duxbury

The prepared food section and bakery are fantastic. Great service at the deli, great selection, great pre cut options and prepared options if you're in the go, want something to take to work or just need a few extra meals that you don't have to cook yourself during the week. The portion sizes are great but not too huge either which is nice. There's even smoothies, yum.

The layout of the store is bizarre though, and can make finding things difficult when you're trying to be quick because of Covid. Caretaking for an elderly sick family member means I have to be extra careful so I cannot give give stars for a few reasons:

The employees do not stay 6 feet away from you while you are browsing, or ask you to move momentarily nor do they follow the arrows on the floor, nor enforce it with customers. They often wipe down the check out prior to the next customer, but only about half of the time. Several times that I've bought frozen fruit it's all clumped into one frozen lump indicating it fully thawed out at some point. Twice I've purchased ground beef here and it's been off upon opening the usage when I got home. So, in the same day as buying it. And often the seafood and meat counters have an awful smell that fills the nearby isles and make me think twice about purchasing anything other than produce, pre made and bread products.

Overall it's still a good experience if you need a smaller crowd during Covid times but you'll get a third of the items for the cost compared to what you'd get from an aldi or even stop and shop. So it's just about what you need. The cleanest and highest quality products I've gotten lately in addition to precautions for Covid was surprisingly, Costco. But that's not local. And I don't have the time to always go far so brother's has been a huge help.

Great little market. The people work there are very nice and helpful. I have never seen a muffin top and love them toasted with some butter and extra cinnamon. The blondies are great warm with vanilla ice cream. I just bought the cheddar and bacon biscuits and the are excellent. You can smell the cheddar cheese and bacon when you open the package. I have tried their prepared foods and they are just as good as anything I have had in any restaurant. Don't forget to pick up some of Iggy's bread. Usually I do not write reviews for stores I Go to even regularly but I felt it necessary to mention what I have noticed at Brothers Marketplace lately. I am in here once or twice a month as it is very expensive. But they have always had great Produce. Lately though it has just been going downhill in quality and I have felt quite disappointed . Old fruit and old vegetables on the shelves as well as mold on one of the shelves of fruit! I do still enjoy their Prepared foods section and bakery but I wish more care was taken of the produce part...
