United States Postal Service — Local services in East Hartford

I mailed my "save the date" letters with magnets enclosed in the envelope. I am getting some of them returned to me with a slit on the side edge of the envelope and not magnet is in it. Looks like someone took a razor blade or a very sharp object to slice the envelope to take the magnet. I paid a lot of money for the "save the date" magnets for my upcoming wedding. So far, I have 5 people saying they received the letter but no magnet AND they noticed the slit (and no other damage to the envelope). I have stated in the letters the magnet is enclosed. When I originally went to the post office they told me there should be no problem sending the envelopes. I used to work in the post office, the Providence "turn-key". I know the procedures and handling of packages and mail. If it the letter is unable to go through the machine, it should be handled in the "pigeon holes" by hand NOT machine. I spoke to the Post Master of Ellington and there was no course of action they can do about it, he says. I will need to file a complaint from the USPS website. The website is a JOKE! I did exactly what he instructed me to do. The website sucks! So now I'm writing...

This was my first time here and my first time delivering mail in general. I let the lady at the front counter, Tanell, know that I’ve never done this before and still had an attitude throughout the whole transaction. Every time I asked a question she replied with “you really never did this before?” Even though I already mentioned that. She showed me a piece of mail as a way to help me fill out everything the right way for my mail then took it away as I was filling it out and told me to move to the table so she can help the next customer. Every time a customer walked in she would let them get in front of me and continue to help them instead of finishing our transaction first then going to the next customers in the order they came. I asked to see the mail that she showed me to help me fill out my mail properly and she refused to show it this time. The directions she gave me were too fast and very unhelpful, I had to ask her numerous times to repeat herself, which is why I just preferred to see the mail again. One would assume that with the state of the economy today, an associate for a business would do what they can to make a sale ... Unfortunately government employees do not feel the same. I live in a place there is no lease except paying for your next month of rent 4 yrs of consecutive receipts a W-2 & ID all representing the same address that I'm trying to get a P.O. Box for because mail gets stolen from was not sufficient- Because there is no technical lease, utilities are included in my rent and I don't drive nor vote ...

So now when I apply for my passport next Saturday at this same location (Under the same name that I'm trying to get the PO Box for) I will have to use another address to have it mailed to to make sure crucial documents aren't stolen from my mail box that will take me months to track down

The epitome of why people hate the government... They make it impossible to support a business probably has reported economic loss for over 10 yrs...
