On June 29, 2023, while parking my cart, I found womanâs bag with wallet and cell phone in another cart that was returned. As the phone was still unlocked, I texted the last person the lady who lost her bag texted, left my cell phone number, and indicated that not to worry, that I found this bag and phone, and to contact me. I then drove to Easton police to return it so they can locate the owner. Without reviewing any footage from the cameras, the manager from Big Y called Easton police and told them that I stole the bag from her cart. This resulted in me being treated as a thief upon arrival to the Easton police and not as a Good Samaritan. I was also charged with larceny for about 10 devastating minutes until the officer looked at the texts in womanâs phone at my insistence and dropped the charges. The manager should have looked at the video footage before providing false information to police about me stealing the purse. I am a Good Samaritan that suffered as a result of his actions. If he simply took time to figure things out and get to the bottom of it before taking rush actions, everyone would benefit from it. What he did was provide false information to police without reviewing evidence, which has severe consequences to the innocent person: me. I have been shopping at Big Y since it opened. This false info almost made me lose my job in finance and income for my family. Please think next time before doing...
Read moreI donât go to Big Y often however I have been to a few different locations when itâs convenient. I felt welcomed in every location previously. Today, I stopped by the EASTON location to grab milk for my daughter and a few other things. I had my three children with me as well. Well, we grabbed what we needed and waited in line. As the cashier bagged things, I put them into my cart. The whole time I had my wallet open and my card in my hand in preparation to pay. After I placed the last bag in my cart, I went to turn around to pay and before I had the chance to swipe my card, COLIN THE CASHIER, said to me âyou need to pay firstâ I told him thatâs what I was doing. In no way, did it appear that I wasnât going to pay, I had my card in my hand and did not walk away or anything before he made that comment. I was so humiliated that this man said what he said to me with such a derogatory tone in front of other customers. I have never experienced profiling of any sorts in my life and I am utter shock that this occurred in 2020 with everything going on in the world. Yes Iâm young and I have three children but that is no reason to assume I would steal from a store. I am disgusted and humiliated by the way this man spoke to me and I will never shop at any Big Y...
