I spent almost $300.00 getting my hair styled Time management needs work. My appointment was started 30 mins late and I stayed at the salon almost the whole day 6 hours or more to be exact. Valerie the stylist did not once brush my hair to remove any small kinks (that ultimately got bigger during the service, but we will get to that in a moment) prior to my service which in turn was very painful as she parted through kinked hair very rough and aggressive as if she were dealing with a wig that has no nerve endings. If she had of listened to me instead undermining the tips I gave her on how to not hurt me we would have been fine. We get to the shampoo bowl and I guess no one ever told her how to deal with natural long hair as she was shampooing my hair like she was scrubbing a shirt or something. The shampoo was rough and agressive and did not feel good at all; and she knotted my hair up even more. She didnt comb the conditioner into my hair (that would have help a lot).Instead, to remove some of the tangles from the ends of my hair I could hear ripping sounds, she was RIPPING MY NATURAL HAIR APART TO DETANGLE IT NO COMB, NO PADDLE BRUSH; HER BARE HANDSš³š³!!!! What beauty school do they teach this detangling technique @?! Again my hair is not synthetic weave its mine!! Even the way she towel dried my hair was not pleasant. I then offered her advice on how to detangle my hair and she offered defensive responses instead of being receptive to what I was communicating to her !!!YOURE HURTING ME!!!!Once done at the bowl. We went back to the styling area where she was finishing up another client. I noticed a good size dred on the left side of the end of my hair that I removed myself to avoid her from ripping any more of my hair. I was almost tempted to get a paddle brush from one of the other stylists to detangle my hair myself to avoid further torture. Valerie calls me over and begins sectioning my hair off: Her parts were not clean her bantu knots were tired and lazy and hair kept falling and getting in the way. The tension was off in some spots making it more I uncomfortable She was parting my hair with a metal duck bill clip AND SNAGGING MY NATURAL HAIR everytime she used this method, she used a mixture of a rat tail comb, her hand and the duck bill clip to part my hair. Valerie was very rough blow drying my hair stabbing me In the scalp almost everytime the blow dryer made contact with my head. I got burned by her flat irons a couple times and when I glanced over at the flat irons I could see the flat irons had build up on them which explains the additional snagging sensation (aside from when she would part my hair with the metal duck bill clip) I felt each time she straightened a piece of hair. I didnt love my hair because the trim was not thorough and when I tried to run my fingers through it, I was met by more kinksš«. I would not recommend Valerie if you have long hair. It was pure torture being serviced by her. I've had my hair done plenty of times....its not supposed to hurt at all. And if I'm paying dang near $300.00 for a style I shouldn't feel anything but great! On the plus side though Salon was big and roomy Bathroom clean hot water and soap present Salon was clean However I rated a 1star because that horrible tortuous experience. I have to remember when going to these salons some ppl just dont know how to handle long hair so be careful. I still paid and tipped cuz after all she did get the job done but I would not go...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI took my 7 year old daughter and my 19 y/o son here for a haircut. My daughter is bi-racial and has a lot of hair. The woman was pulling and tugging on my daughter and my daughter was in tears crying about how badly it hurt. I offered to comb out my daughters hair so she would stop pulling her hair and she kept taking her hair away from me and pulling a comb through it without care my daughter was crying. It appeared that she was in a hurry and I thought maybe just to keep her schedule on time.
My son got his hair cut after my daughter however he has very fine and thin hair. He had no issues while he was getting cut however two hairstylist worked on his cut. As my daughters hair was drying I noticed it was uneven however my daughter begged me not to take her back in the salon. After my sons cut was finished I was charged $25/cut. I paid and left her a $10 tip which I didnāt feel she deserved. My son then proceeded to tell me that the woman had to catch a flight and that was why she was in a hurry. I am disappointed that she didnāt let me know that she didnāt have the time to do both of the cuts and instead traumatized my daughter and gave her a horrible haircut. Her hair is uneven in the front and the sides of her face. I will not be going back her nor will I ever recommend this place to anyone....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst let's start by saying I am new to Eastpointe Michigan area. I found this establishment on Facebook. After reading the reviews I decided to set up an appointment with a stylist by the name of Dwayne. We discussed prices and styling he is very affordable. At the location parking is tight but not bad, I found a really great spot right around the corner. The atmosphere of the place is exceptionally comfortable. As soon as I walked in all the stylist as well as other customers greeted me as though I was family. Everyone in this establishment is very professional. Now the hairstyle I came in with thick non processed natural hair. The staff was very patient and nice I felt no pain, which is surprising with me having thick hair. The shampoo & conditioning was amazing ā¤. Dwayne permed cut & styled my hair with understanding & love lol.. Im looking fab again!!My app was at 1, I was done at 3:56.
