I searched for something my Mom and I could do while she visited. Once I realized she would like to see some whales I started searching and saw this company. What stood out for me was the smaller boat having far fewer people on than others. Most of the boat charters had people packed on deck like sardines. Here, it was less than a half dozen of us. Which gave us a much more personalized experience. The boat's captain appeared to be very knowledgeable on the local area and history. He was also knowledgeable about the water and the wildlife. We got to see several whales, and numerous porposes in the water. As a person who can get sea sick easily, the boat had a good ride to it. No one onboard had any sea sickness. The boat also had a watch tower onboard. It was pretty cool to see the whales from the elevated height. The boat also appeared to be significantly overpowered. Which was a nice thing to have in the strong tidal flows in the bay of fundy.
It was a nice smooth ride. If I need another boat charter for visiting family/friends, I will absolutely book Eastport Charter again.
If you're from a warm climate, remember to take a layers, to include a windbreaker and sunscreen.
To the captain, thank you for making my Mom's...
Read moreKinny was absolutely fabulous as a boat captain. I am in Eastport visiting a friend and was looking for a boating experience that could accommodate my 88 year old mother that has mobility issues. It was an amazing experience. Kinny was responsive from my very first inquiry. He not only brought my mom down the very steep ramp on the wheelchair, he also help get her back up the ramp. He helped get her on and off the boat with so much care and patience. I would highly recommend his trip for anyone that might have mobility issues. The trip itself was incredible as well. We saw whales, seals, porpoises, and eagles. He made every attempt to make sure everyone could view the wildlife. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the area. Other points of interest on this trip were the Old Sow whirlpool and the Head Harbour Lightstation. His vessel is safe with comfortable chairs and it was so nice to have a small group of just six passengers. Kinny was the consummate professional, and answered any question asked of him. Great trip with a great captain! Thanks Kinny for everything and for going above and...
Read moreWe had a truly wonderful morning on the Passamaquoddy Bay with Capt. Kinny and naturalist John Delaney. The early morning forecast was predicting rain, but after conferring with Kinny, we moved up our start time -- and ended up with the most glorious summer weather, partly cloudy and a little breezy, but the water was like glass (except at the whirlpool!). Kinny and John worked beautifully together, calling out what they were spotting and then navigating the boat to be as close as appropriate to the wildlife. Seals, whales (the "famous" minke whale Slice, known because she has been missing her dorsal fin since she was first spotted over 20 years ago), seals, dolphins, bald eagles, varieties of gulls, -- we saw them all. The captain handles his boat beautifully and the quality of the narration was outstanding. You feel that the tour hosts are enjoying the time on the water every bit as much as we did. I can hardly wait to have additional guests come so we can book...
