Very nice eatery. I have lived all my life in Maine. This was my first visit to this locale. I sat at the bar and chatted with the friendly young lady who was bartending. Sampled several different beers, took a walk on the good sized deck to take in the beautiful water view, ordered two lobster rolls (only $20 each!) and generally had a very pleasant time at this lovely restaurant/bar right in downtown Eastport. The lobster rolls were pretty good, but not the best. They use a garlic mayonnaise which is OK, but they did not use enough of the mayo and I didnt care much for the rolls they use - and a fair amount of lobster was in the roll although there were no big chunks of claw or tail meat - basically imagine lobster salad made with the consistency of tuna salad made from a can. But for $20, it's worth it. There is only one true best way to make a classic Maine lobster roll. Having lived in Maine for all of my 58 years, I know whereof I speak. A classic and perfect Maine lobster roll has only 5 ingredients: lobster meat, Hellmann's Mayonnaise, lemon juice, cracked black pepper, and a nice buttery toasted hotdog roll - the kind of rolls that are flat on the sides. The lobster meat should be full of chunks of lobster, not a lobster "mash" and there should be plenty of Hellmann's mayo, with a nice amount of cracked pepper and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. The rolls should be lathered with butter and toasted on a flat top grill. Also, the roll should be overflowing with lobster meat, even if you have to pay more for it. Right now, a lobster roll like this is going for $40. But it's worth it. A lobster roll like this is sublime. Anything else is a...
Read moreReally enjoyed our visit to Horn Run! We've tried a different restaurant each year in Eastport, we'll definitely be coming back here. They have some tasty beer options. I partook in the Castaway: coconut stout with smooth aftertaste. They also have my Cayman Jack Margarita’s. We had a variety of food at our table from pepparoni pizza for little man, corn dib and chips and pretzel for appetizers, sis tried smoked salmon terriaki stick (cold, ok), bacon and caramelized onion pizza, as well as Brisket Sammie. It was all tasty, reasonably priced with variety of seating options from outdoor looking over the water to indoors with and without...
Read moreWorst food I've had in years. We had the caramelized onion and bacon flatbread and the classic caprese flatbread. The caramelized onion version had about 10 tiny scraps of tasteless bacon and an unexplained runny, nasty liquid covering the entire surface. The flatbread itself was white, limp and clearly never saw any moment of crispy. Not sure I've ever seen such bad ingredients so poorly assembled in any restaurant. The classic caprese version was slightly better, but that's a low bar. Again, cheap ingredients assembled on a limp flatbread. I'd strongly suggest...
