Extra Space Storage — Local services in El Cajon

When I first contacted Extra Space Storage to rent a unit, I didn’t realize the calls were outsourced. The representative asked if I planned to rent long-term or short-term, and I said long-term. To my surprise, less than four months later, my rent had doubled. I was very disappointed and reached out to the local office for clarification.

Fortunately, I spoke with John, the manager, who was extremely helpful and understanding. He worked with me to reduce my rate and helped me downsize to a smaller unit that better fit my budget. His professionalism and customer service were excellent, and I truly appreciated his assistance.

The facility itself is very clean, well-maintained, and feels safe, which I really appreciate. However, I’m disappointed that the company raises rates so quickly, especially for long-term customers. It feels unfair and unexpected. My advice is to contact the office directly rather than going through the call center, as the local staff are much more transparent and supportive.

One other downside is that Extra Space Storage does not offer military discounts for veterans or AAA discounts, which is unfortunate.

Extra Space Storage is a new storage facility in El Cajon, CA. It has easy access off the I-8 eastbound or westbound. The facility is large but the layout is made so that it's easy to get to your space without getting lost. After my second trip I knew exactly how to get to my space. The two employees I spoke to were very nice and knowledgeable, they answered my questions and asked if I needed anything else. The only thing I had an issue with was the parking area. You come in one way and go out another. There are plenty of parking spaces but there were some moving vans that took up two spaces or blocked the path through. I think it's because the facility is newer and everyone just happened to be moving at the same time. Other than that I like the facility...

The people I spoke with on the phone where very nice and very helpful they hooked me up with a storage unit at the facility I wanted even though I had called a different location online prices are very affordable I got my first month free only paid 64 which consisted of $29 one time admin fee, $21 for the "disc lock", and $14 for insurance and i got a 5×5 unit I only pay $59 a month I'm Ure they will raise that price on me I should pay for 4-5 months so I can lock that price in because they will raise the price every month like my other storage facility and I eventually couldn't afford it and lost everything but...
