Even though I give them only 3 stars, I really like their Pollo Asado Burrito and have it fairly often, mainly because I live close and haven't found another place nearby to replace it. Sometimes I switch up with a Carne Asada Burrito, and now and then I will get a Breakfast Burrito. However, the service is variable - although I've never had a really bad experience. Once in a while the burrito is really skinny, and I'll think they're cutting back to save money, but then I go back and have a great burrito. One of my friends loves their California Burritos and Carne Asada Fries. Another is hooked on their rolled tacos. None of us like their enchilada sauce; it tastes like it is from a can.
I'm unhappy that they have raised their prices around 30% in the last 3 or 4 years. I'm pretty sure their costs have not gone up that much! And if you want a Carne Asada burrito, it's more like a 40% increase, as now it's a separate, higher-cost item. Every time they raise prices, more choices come off the menu. And on top of that, I can't eat avocados, so I have always substituted sour cream for the guacamole, and it has never been a problem. Today they tried to charge me almost a dollar more for the "extra order of sour cream". I had to argue with the girl at the drive-thru about it. If I had been inside, I think I would have just left. I guess there has been a change in ownership or management and the only thing that matters now is squeezing the most money from their customers.
This place could really benefit from good management and having someone overseeing the workers to make sure they all can do their jobs (and know what the job is). They used to have a few people who were there a long time and everything was fine when they were there. Now I never see a familiar face. And yes, a little pep talk about customer service and smiling wouldn't hurt either. Though the times when I felt they weren't very friendly were mostly times they were super busy, so I cut them some slack for that. Well, except for today, that was ridiculous.
I'm sure I'll be back, due to the convenience, but not nearly as often as I used to. I'm now looking for other alternatives. Or maybe I'll just be more healthy and not eat takeout...
Read moreI'm utterly disgusted and disappointed. I gave this location so many chances to be a good solid Sombrero Mexican take out, and every time it was a big fail. I've tried the... *Carne asada fries *Carne asada burrito, tacos, and quesadilla *fish burrito *chilaquiles (green)
Good and cleaner than their competitors 95% of the time. Portions may vary depending on what you order, but they have an awesome rewards program that comes in handy if you happen to sign up. I've dined in as well as ordered through take-out. They have exceptional service at this particular location, and the food is great, and your order usually comes with an additional side of tortilla chips for free. I can't actually recall more than two bad experiences with my food other than the size of a burrito that I have ordered extra on one day and my girlfriend not being a fan of their beef tacos 🙃 😅. To be fair, I honestly liked them myself (the beef tacos). I no longer live in the area, but I still travel to this particular destination when I want some clean, delicious Mexican food and some great service. This place is levels above your typical Mexican restaurant bar none. The only real gripe that I have is that their fountain drinks don't always taste great and that their horchata shares the same nozzle as the coke and isn't fresh like other places, and it is a little more pricy but I guess for good reason, but overall in my opinion it's the best fast food Mexican food out there, try it yourself if you don't believe me. I left Santanas, Vallarta,Compadres, Robertos, Albertos, and El Cilantro behind a long time ago for Somberos, so believe me when i tell you that I know what taste good, the only place that comes remotely close is Cotijas and I would still rate them a 3/5 for taste and 2/5 for cleanliness vs here 5/5 in...
