We were going to make this our go-to store for feeder insects, but alas, this place has done nothing but inspire us to finally start our own colony. Not only have the staff of Prattâs decided not to care about their customers enough to wear masks anymore, but they took it upon themselves to tape signs around the store informing people that they donât have to, so they donât have to explain themselves to anyone. Every customer Iâve seen enter the store chose to wear a mask, unlike the staff. The pandemic is still going on, and watching a family-oriented store be so selfish and thoughtless is extremely disappointing. Speaking of thoughtlessness, when I came to pick up dubia roaches one day, the manager pulled a dermestid beetle from my container (which are supposed to be in dubia roach colonies as âcleaner beetlesâ) and squished it in front of me, saying, âThatâs a pantry moth. If you let those out, theyâll get into your pantry, and theyâre impossible to get rid of.â Not only was this personâwho was supposed to be informed enough to sell me feeder insectsâunaware of the difference between a pantry moth and a dermestid beetle, but she was perfectly content selling me a container she thought contained invasive pantry moths. This brings me to the animal husbandry section of my review. Every single reptile they have for sale is dehydrated. The tanksâ humidity levels are a joke, and I regularly see 7-10 baby bearded dragons crammed into a 10-gallon long fish tank with crickets bigger than their heads. They shove fistfuls of birds into cages the size of microwaves, and they pander to the idea of buying rabbits as gifts; I donât think Iâve been there one time without seeing someone impulse-buying a rabbit. The cages they keep the mixed-breed puppies in regularly reek of urine, and the past four litters over the last few months Iâve seen there all came from the exact same âbreeder.â Overall, Prattâs drew us in with their feeder insect prices, but everything else about our experience with this establishment has been a major let-down. Do...
Read moreOkay, so Iâve gone to Prattâs for many years for shots for my dogs, milk for my dog when she was a pup, etc. But my first time boarding a dog here at the El Mirage location was last week, from Wednesday to Saturday. I had to leave the state on short notice for a few days and was left with no choice but to board, so I thought, âOh, Prattâs is a nice small place with people who know what theyâre talking about and doing, so this should be great.â Well, all was well when we left but when I came to pick my baby up on Saturday, she was given a bath and had a blood spot on the side of her face/neck, which I didnât even think of because I thought maybe she just scratched herself. But they NEVER told me why they gave her a bath, or that they even did. I only knew because she was shedding ridiculously, which only happens when sheâs given a bath. So 5 days go by and my dog plays in some mud, so I gave her a bath today and when doing so, I notice like 4 scabs on her neck and kinda freak out, you know? Thatâs my baby so Iâm proper mom mode, I panic. I took her down to Prattâs to show them and ask what happened when I was gone, and they INSIST she had no blood mark on her or anything when I picked her up. Which is ABSOLUTELY BS. All I wanted was an answer to why my dog had blood on her when I picked her up, why was I NEVER made aware of ANYTHING, and why did they give her a bath. They tried telling me that they gave her a bath because she âpooped in her kennelâ, but I honestly do not believe that at all because this dog can hold herself for hours and hours. Sheâs NEVER gone to the bathroom inside, ever. So unless someone didnât take her outside for like 12+ hours, it seems to me like someone is trying to cover something up. Honestly I used to love this place prior to this but no I really donât trust them. All I wanted were some answers and all I got were some run arounds. Please choose somewhere else to board your babies if you need to board at all. My first experience was a bad one, so unless itâs a dire situation, I probably wonât ever...
Read moreI am a frequent customer to this specific location. I'm usually very impressed by staff and customer service, today was different. I walked in at 5:57pm to get a very easy order of $10 in crickets and $10 in dubia roaches. I work in the area and this is my favorite spot to get my reptile needs. There was 5-6 employees by the front, I was greeted by 2 young ladies. One young lady with glasses and long brown hair is always a pleasure and great asset to the building; she was one of them. The other young lady was new, short hair with glasses and bright smile. I was asked what I could be helped with? I asked if I could get the crickets and dubia? The young lady with a long brown hair and glasses asked all of the other employees standing around, if any of them would like to help with getting the crickets? Nobody answered but a young man that is tall and brown hair wearing a surfer type necklace, I believe i got the name of ethan...said no very quickly while at register in front of me. I replied oh that's nice. No reply by him or anyone. But, the newer young lady with short brown hair with glasses stepped in and did the dubias while asking a near by also newer young lady to help count crickets. She rang me up and was very nice. I did ask if there was a survey or email where I could do feedback, I was told about Google. I already knew the owners name, asked if I could get a number or email to Dan. Nothing. I was asked to leave a 5 star review. For that particular young lady and other young lady, yes 5 stars. But not for the experience and treatment today by the other employees and Ethan. I was very disappointed. Especially when I am a loyal customer that never asks for much or makes a fuss, and always in (every 2 weeks)buying something from $20- $180 in feeders. This is definitely a training moment and a redirect, we all make mistakes. Let's learn from them.i hope my next experience...
