Ace Hardware — Local services in Elgin

First and foremost I find that 4 out of 10 times they don't have what I need. What is likely my last trip ever to Elgin Ace Hardware left a sour taste in my mouth. It was a Sunday and seeing we had rain coming the next day I made the trip to Elgin to get fertilizer. Not knowing that the store closed a 4pm I made my way into the store and was met with the " if looks could kill" look. There were about a half dozen customers in line and unsure of the reason for the cold reception I asked the closest employee if they were closing. Just then another guy that was behind the register, who incidentally was also shooting imaginary knives at me with his eyes, spoke up very sternly " IT IS FOUR O'CLOCK". The other employee closest to me just continued with his look of consternation. I said " I'll go elsewhere" and left. I know they probably had a bad day etc...etc...etc but if they worked in my store they quite possibly...

Excellent service, always greeted when I walk in the store and asked if I need assistance. Selection is pretty good. They may not carry everything but if they do they usually have one or more brands to choose from. You can expect to pay a little more then you would at Lowes or Home Depot, but on most items its worth not having to drive to Lawton. If you stop buy be sure to sign up for Ace Rewards, they send me coupons and discounts about once a month and let you know when sales are coming. Overall, I would recommend this store to anyone and I am glad we have...

Staff is always welcoming and friendly every trip and things are well kept and organized. My go-to spot for any quick project items.
