My experience at the Geek Squad location was overall fine. The agent who helped me was friendly and helpful, even though he didn't have a name tag. He explained what they needed and what the service would entail for my iPhone screen replacement, which I had requested through Apple support.
However, things went downhill from there. After filing the necessary paperwork, the agent told me he needed to speak with the technicians to see what an estimated repair time would be as there was one phone in for repair ahead of me. After a few minutes, he came back with bad news: the technicians wouldn't be able to begin repairing my phone until later that evening or first thing the next morning. I could see that he felt bad delivering the news.
The reason for the delay is very frustrating. The two on-site technicians only had one tool set to share between them, and the current phone they were working on was giving them trouble. I told the agent I understood and was willing to leave my phone with them for the repair, but I was livid that Geek Squad couldn't provide the necessary number of tools for their technicians to work efficiently.
Having to wait nearly a day for a 15-minute repair is unacceptable. In this day and age, where cell phones are a requirement, such delays are extremely inconvenient, especially for people who work from home or have on-call jobs, like myself. While I appreciated the agent's professionalism and honesty, the experience left a bad impression on me as a first-time customer, and I won't be returning for service at...
Read moreI've had Geek Squad services for years, but in the last 3 or 4 years they have never solved anything. In the end, I deal with the problem, get a new computer or find a work around like wiring my wireless printer. Many hours spent on the phone with polite agents who always have a heavy foreign accent who do not have much knowledge beyond doing a "tune up". Then they send you to the store , where you learn your computer cannot be fixed... "its 6 years old and there are no longer updates for a computer this old". This time "because of covid" (Sept 2020) they cannot service my computer in 10 days. If I buy a new computer they cannot load software on it on 10 days. And the 20 minute store appointment, I was bumped, they were 30 minutes behind and i was 5 minutes late (did not keep them waiting), but they decided to bump me. It used to take 20 minutes to get to the NE Columbia, now is 35+. Hours wasted on the phone, trip to store, and the computer that was slow is, since servicing or because of original issue, now seizing every hour or two. BEST BUY it will be many years before I spend a dime more with you! (All other reviews I have made on Google have been 5 star). Usually I praise, but Best Buy has been a...
Read moreThe Geek Squad team at Best Buy on Two Notch Road, Columbia, SC at Sparkleberry Square were simply excellent! The team members that assisted me with several issues, Timika and Troy, were patient, helpful, and answered my questions clearly, while keeping appointments punctual. During this period of assistance I must point the very special help of the technician Jim. Jim spent time with me explaining various issues and options, addressed all my issues with high technical skill, and did so in a friendly and patient manner, all with excellent customer satisfaction skills. I don't know how efficient and helpful other Geek Squad agents and technicians are at other Best Buy locations are, but this team should be cloned! They were great and deserve the highest...
