Doggy Gym and Swim — Local services in Elk Grove Township

I have been swimming (as well as making use of underwater treadmill) for over 20 years. This is a great form of exercise for all dogs and all abilities! Plus, mine, especially, LOVE to swim and retrieve! Mentally, physically, and emotionally a great time for them!!

Marissa, the owner and swim instructor, is so calm, friendly, and there for the health and well being of the pooches! She is certified (yes, this is a "thing"!) and has a wonderful, clean, and well equipped facility! My dogs are aging, aren't we all? And this is a wonderful year round opportunity to keep them moving and in great shape! One of my dogs is 6 months post TPLO surgery (knee) and swimming is awesome for her!

We went to Doggy Gym and Swim for the first time yesterday and we will definitely be back! My girl Roxy has swam before but it's been a little while so she was still a little nervous getting in but Marissa was great with her. Once she got in the water it was game on. She loved playing fetch with Marissa and jumping off the platform. Having another dog who has torn both of her ACLs, I am acutely aware of the subtleties of keeping them safe. Getting in and out of the water and Marissa's facility is set up perfectly. It was also nice for us because we could easily watch and participate in the fun. Roxy has so much energy she is usually on the go constantly but not last night LOL. After her swim she ate dinner and slept most of the night and even this morning she is a much calmer dog LOL. I can't say enough about our experience at Doggy Swim & Gym. My senior dog was recently diagnosed with IVDD, and the vet recommended he walk on an underwater treadmill to maintain his mobility and build leg muscles. Marissa is a wonderful canine hydrotherapist. I was worried about the first session given he is not a big fan of water and a little unsteady on his feet, but she got him moving like a pro with the perfect amount of support so he got the exercise without injury. We'll be going back for weekly sessions, which to me is a no-brainer given the price is affordable in contrast to big vet...
