Food Lion — Local services in Elkton

I love the Elkton Food Lion, especially since the Covid pandemic. I switched to Instacart during Covid; Food Lion is one of the few grocery stores that offers same as in-store pricing for online orders.

To date, I have had only excellent service and friendly, supportive staff. Kudos to my shopper Danielle and all the others!

I was elated once they began their pick up service! I place my order online, choose a pick up date & time, they shop for me, let me know when my order is ready for pick up, upon my arrival I let them know I’m there in the designated parking area, they bring my groceries out to my car, place them in my trunk and off I go, it’s so convenient!

My only issue is that in order to use my accumulated rewards $’s each month I must shop and have my loyalty card scanned inside the store which kinda defeats the reason I use Instacart. They already have my loyalty card number on the Instacart website for me to get the store’s sale prices so why can’t it be used for the rewards redemption as...

This establishment is very clean and the isles are clear, allowing for simple navigation throughout. Everyday prices are more cost effective than most local grocery stores. Every week, the sales help to save even more and stock up on meats, pantry items etc. Most employees are kind and helpful however, there are a few that need some more training and manners. I occasionally have to ask them what the total is for my shopping order as they stand there with another employee talking amongst themselves or staring blankly. The management is kind and helpful beyond expectations and always address any issue or request I’ve ever had. Everyone in the deli department is friendly and remember you, making for a nice revisit and small town feel. The fresh produce section needs much more attention. The vegetables and fruits are often wilted, moldy or beginning to soften and rot. Hopefully this will be remedied soon. I'd give ZERO STARS if it were an option! The customer service in this place is horrible at best. Particularly, the older black lady with glasses. She's NEVER polite, doesn't bag the items that SHOULD be bagged, and just seems like a miserable person in general. The overall vibe in the store is far from pleasant. A few of the other employees just stand around watching the customers, and walk the other way when someone is approaching their register. It is a younger crew working there for the most part. So, I'm not at all surprised at how this store is run. The deli girls are pretty decent, but that's about it. At least they're somewhat pleasant at times.
