This is the Big Y in Ellington on West St/Rd... & I've found out of the surrounding towns;): TOLLAND & Manchester... This one in Ellington is far by the one that's rude(cashiers) Produce people & Bakery staff all seem very stand offish!! Yesterday was a terrible experience (there's been many) but yesterday at checkout the cashier Doris was very unpleasant! I have had dealings with her before & I've been under impression she & others at this store are very Closed minded & act very negative towards people of COLOR & PEOPLE THAT ARE INTERRACIAL TEAMED UP!! I take this as a direct fact its been her pointing finger at me & my spouse!! I've seen & heard others in the employment of the Big Y ( this store & TOLLAND fits in) I basically stop at this store for convenience! I'm not HAPPY with service or attitude among the help in Dept's I've mentioned!! In purpose I check all items that have screw top or cover that could cause leak if insecure!! And after checking all things when I got home? The Horseradish was loose Leaked out and oil also the sweater vests I purchased were just thrown into this bag now? They've been stained!! I advise people too be prepared for many negative responses as if they are being bothered!! If it wasn't for customers they wouldn't get a paycheck!! I feel that there should be some type of test given 2 times a year too check the status of personality of employees & a written warning given by customer for the person who made them feel bad or acted rude!! Then up too management too thin out the ones whom have the complaints!! I'm going too avoid the Big Y especially in Ellington!! Maybe the final shopping at this and withers are...
Read moreI have been a loyal customer at the Ellington Big Y since moving here 12 years ago. It is a clean and well-stocked store, and usually has outstanding employees. Today was a different experience. After shopping through a few aisles, I noticed that two store employees in the meat department, and one in produce, were wearing their required Covid masks below their noses. In fact, I was unable to approach the produce I was interested in because the incorrectly masked produce man was standing in front of it. So, I went to customer service and told a very nice young woman at the counter about it. She seemed shocked and said she would take care of it.
A few minutes later, there was a general recorded announcement reminding the public to wear masks. I thought I may not have been clear that it was employees who were non-compliant. Then, a few aisles later, I came upon yet another employee with an uncovered nose! By this time, I was livid. So, I asked him if he understood that the mask doesn't work if it is not covering his nose. He glared at me and said "I know." Hmmm. So then, I asked him if he understood that wearing a mask protects others. He glared at me and said "I know."
When I checked out, I told the woman at the register, who was a customer service manager. She weakly apologized and said that they have to wear them sometimes 8 hours and it's hard. I asked her to ask the employees how they'd feel about their surgeon whipping off his mask in mid-surgery because it bothered him.
This is completely...
Read moreThe night manager is absolutely the rudest person I have ever come in contact with at a supermarket and should be fired because he absolutely has the worst customer service skills and has no respect for females, After shopping there for years as did my family I had a coupon that was supposed to be honored and rather than looking at the proof which was provided by the Damien to church he didn't care and dismissed me so I told him that I will never shop there again and neither will my family and he said good well I'm sure that the store owners would be very happy to know that they are now going to be losing about $3000 a month because of their sexist manager. All I can say is that everyone should take their business down the street to Stop & Shop because as much as they preach that there a family business there The night manager didn't care that I was trying to get coupons for dogs at an animal shelter ( which he knew)who needed it and I was supposed to get a deal not for me but for these animals and thinking that they were a local company you would really think that they would want to support their local animal shelter's but I guess not because he told me I can just...
