The Place Rental Hall — Local services in Elmwood Place

Let me first start by saying if I could give this place -5 stars I would!!!! The owner of this place is so ornery. When trying to communicate with him, he seemed very annoyed and gave a sarcastic response to any questions asked. The way he runs his business is also outdated. When I initially contacted him, he texted me a false name of Mary. When I first met him, he didn’t introduce himself, instead, I had to ask who he was when he just stood there in confusion. When I told him who I was, he began walking with his back turned to me and gave me a rushed tour of the place. He sat in his chair and asked “well do you want to secure a date or what?”. He gave me an old paper application with coffee stains on them. He was also still using the outdated application from the previous owner. The rules and regulations were outdated. He scribbled and crossed out spots that were not current to what he called structure. He stated that the whole place would be for my event and it wasn’t until the day and time of the event that he had half of the event center closed off from the public. He gave me a false advertisement while submitting the outdated application and charged me for the price of both party spaces and only got one. He walked through my party barefoot and had a smug attitude. He also lives at this establishment.

The building itself is outdated. The floors are old peel and stick and look it’s the original flooring of the building. The floors were unkept. There was a rug that lay across a vent that kept moving and once it moved, you could see the underside and it looked like a dungeon. The walls are covered in black felt fabric with spray-painted signs which are to distinguish the restrooms. The stage was was creeky and had what seemed to be creepy dressing rooms that look like it just comes from a horror film. The chairs and tables were dirty and sticky. The kitchen was a horrible mess that I wouldn’t call food worthy. The kitchen had a stairwell that looked like it led to a vampire layer. The bathroom seemed like the only thing decently kept and I’d rather have certain perishable items in there if I had to choose.

The whole place smelled soiled with smoke and body odor.

I do not recommend this dark dungeon layer. It’s so creepy and it looks like a cerial layer...

Where do I start??!!!! The space itself was unkept. Although there was no visible trash, the floors were unkept, sticky, dirty, missing tiles, broken tiles, and much more. The chairs and bench seatings were dirty and unkept. The space is large, but very dark and spooky. The owner was unaware of the “fire inspection” sign on the front door and seemed to ignore it, assuming the fire department already worked the issue out with the business owner before our event. He was also very unprofessional in handling all paperwork and confused my event details with another party. We were allowed to decorate ahead of time, however, when we asked for a little more time he snapped and told us we weren’t allotted the time even though he took our deposit (that he “didn’t require”)!! Completely unprofessional in nature and total unacceptable behavior! If the business owner had social skills and had the money to renovate the space or at least clean it, then maybe the space wouldn’t be so...

This event hall was decent but never knew I was going to be hassled out of a100.00 deposit. I paid someone to come in and help with cleaning up. They mopped, wiped down every table, checked behind myself and other people that were part of my cleaning crew. Before leaving we did a walk thru and took several pictures Called the owner for my deposit the following Wednesday and no response however the next day she decides to respond only by text message to say she was keeping my deposit. Which is not business like. Then send old pics from another event claiming that we trashed the place. She said that food was left in the fridge that it was nasty when we never put food in there. Only canned beverages we're inside fridge The 100. Isn't the issue but the cleaning crew lying to get paid is. P/S...... Owner (you said that it was one little old lady that did your cleaning, so we made sure we cleaned extra good. But today you say you had a crew of 4 that does...
