Editing after coming for a few more months and experiencing other rinks around the region: The music is top notch. Love that you can use a QR code to request songs. The price is the lowest I've found. There are no skate aids, which you may love or hate. (I feel like they tend to be hazards, so I like their absence) It's on the smaller side, so it's hard to find a place to change into your skates, and it also gets very crowded, but it's also cozy. The enforcement of rules seems to be merely interrupting the music every so often to repeat the rules (that no one follows). I never saw any employees on the floor watching for rule breakers, let alone correcting them.
Over all this is a really fun rink IF you are an EXPERIENCED skater: Ever during the open/family skates they let people do tricks (spins, jumps, dancing), weave in and out between other skaters, skate backward, etc which is great if you want to do that, but not very safe, especially given how crowded it is. I lost track of the number of kids under 5 that I saw nearly get seriously injured.
There are almost none of the traditional "special" skates I remember from growing up: no switching the direction everyone skates, no races, no limbo, no couples skate. Just hokey pokey and chicken dance. :( But to be fair, it doesn't seem like anyone does...
Read moreI took my 12 yr old Daughter, her friend and my 16 yr old son here to go skating on a Friday for the late night skate. They had a blast, but my son was ready to leave by 10. I picked him up, while doing so I over heard some teen boys telling a girl that they were going to "jump" her boyfriend when skating was over at midnight. I immediately called and explained what I just witnessed explained that I have 2 younger children there skating and did not want them to see anyone get beat up or jumped. While I was still on the phone they walked outside to find these boys and asked them about it. Of course they denied it while fumbling their words, the Man on the phone knew they were lying and made them leave property. When I went to get my Daughter and her Friend at midnight they had a bunch of adults outside supervising to ensure nothing ended up happening! Very pleased by the way it was handled and happy they went above and beyond to ensure the safety of the children even after skating hours! My children for sure feel safe here and enjoy it. It is now a every weekend activity they...
Read moreI really love this place. Heres my honest review; this is a hidden gem! I hope they keep this place open for a while longer! Yes its a little outdated but the place was built a long time ago and I call that VINTAGE & a CLASSIC. It feels like a step back in time which is nostalgic and euphoric to me!!! It sets a great fun mood. Back when kids were just being kids and not spending all there time on social media & the internet. So if you have kids that need to just get out of the house or get off the games this is the place to do it!! Great music im pretty sure you can request songs, lots of fun disco lights. They have a snack bar with lots of choices pizza/nachos/cotton candy/ cookies/drinks & more etc. On weekends you pay like 7 dollars to get in and then 2 or 3 dollars for skates. I think on Wednesdays it's cheaper to skate im pretty sure. So worth the fun and exercise. Oh and the staff is super friendly. If your kid is having a hard time skating they can adjust the wheels to slow them down and keep them up....
