Hooten's Hardware — Local services in Emory

Update 08 2025. I like this store. Knowledgeable power gas equipment shop with good stock of commercial trimmers and parts. I got a new echo 3020t as promised to support brick and mortar local businesses. Its awesome. Buy one and order it with the echo heavy duty 4 line head and matching arbor, or they have in store the brush cutter kit with arbor and you can use 4 line heads. If the head has a tall cap you can use the stock bikini guard or they might have bolt on shields for flat aluminium heads. It's stout with the under drive gearing and a real pleasure to use. Wow.

This is my first choice now. Good repairs without delay or gouging, and helpful new sales on saws.

My favorite small saw is back to work and I'm glad. I haven't even checked out the whole store. I just buy mowing and gas engine stuff so far but I'll check it out.

The website is functional and advertisements and online prices were consistent. Good deal.

The gas motor equipment has it's own checkout system at the desk by the echo weeder rack. That will save you some time. Ask that clerk your gas trimmer questions and he'll fill and start up your weeder as you are...

Sent a FFL transfer item to Hooten's from an online vendor. Usually use a local pawn shop but this vendor already had Hooten's license and I didn't have to fiddle with getting the pawn shops FFL info over and processed for my order. When I went to pickup the item I arrived 12 minutes before closing, not releasing they closed at 5. Was told that I would have to come back another day. Came back the next day filled out the paperwork and then had to pay $40 for the transfer (the going rate is $25-30 in the area.) So needless to say will not be using Hooten's for future FFL transfers and will go back to the local pawn shop. Also my total time in the store less about 10 mintues with me having to wait on a few customers ahead of me, totally could have been in and out in less than 12 minutes the day before. Won't stop using Hooten's for other things just due to one bad experience with years of good customer service. But wanted to let anyone know that is considering using them as their FFL they are a little higher than most dealers...

Good selection or equipment, brands, and parts.

Pricing is on average at minimum 2-3× what you would find at Atwoods. Save yourself a boat load of money and just go drive 20 minutes into town to the Fix n Feed or Atwoods

...don't let Hooten's try to small town swindle you by saying they have to charge these prices because they're not a 'big box' store... that's obviously not true as the above mentioned stores are of equal quality and lower signifigantly prices, ya just gotta make a small drive

Plus, Hooten's opens later and closes early... so it's clear they make there money in just a few hour's of business. Do they care about most small town citizens- well, do you get off work after 3 or 5pm (depending on the month)? Ya do? Then nope, you're not the target audience.

Other stores may be about making money too, but at least that don't charge as much or lie by trying to say we're small town and dor...
