Went in on tuesday bought a bunch of groceries got to self check out scanned everything at least I thought I did Heavy set dark skin lady older came over cause the light went of and pulls up a camera of me scanning everything then she goes through my grocery list and says how many bread did you buy I said 4 she says well only three was scanned I pulled one bread out and was going to scan it and she says you will have to wait till I fix it she did then I scanned the bread paid for my groceries and left.I felt like she was accusing me of doing it on purpose. Read moreNormally I love Fareway's meat counter. But tonight I went in for a ribeye. I wanted a thick cut one. The kid behind the counter asked if I saw anything I liked, which I responded "not really". He just stood there and did nothing. There were more steaks underneath but apparently I wasn't get that kind of service. I picked one but didn't get the one I had specified. What I got was thick on one end, very thin on the other, piece that should have been ground to hamburger. Didn't want to drive back with the service as it was. Toughest piece of ribeye I have ever had in my life! The dog had a good meal anyway, and I got a great steak...
Read moreI really love Fareway. These stores don't exist where I'm from, so it was a very pleasant surprise when I first visited one. It almost feels like the small town mom & pop grocery back home. I prefer the Evansdale location to the one in Waterloo, although I like both. I prefer the layout in Evansdale and it doesn't get quite as busy. The employees are always friendly and helpful, especially the butchers. The butcher counter is their big draw. Most stores, if you get anything from the butcher, it's considerably more expensive... not at Fareway. I rarely buy meat...
