My husband’s and I first time in Florida and this was definitely on my list of things to do. I really did a lot of research and chose Everglades City Airboat Tours. We drove 2 hours from Pompano Beach where we stayed to make sure we got a really neat experience through the more “jungle” area. I can’t recommend them enough.
We were originally scheduled for Tuesday at 2:40 PM. Unfortunately our car rental broke down at the gas station just as we were filling it up to start our drive out there. I immediately called and Taylor answered the phone. She was amazing. She reassured me it wasn’t an issue and was able to reschedule me for the following day. The next day we arrived over an hour early and not only did Taylor remember me and my name from the day before, they were also ahead of schedule and we left for our tour at 11:30 AM versus 12:30 PM.
Alan was our tour guide and was the absolute best. He was incredibly informative and so thorough with the tour. He really knows how to drive that air boat. It was so much fun!!! We got lucky as soon as we left the dock and were in the open water before we went into the Everglades, there were two dolphins that we were able to follow for a moment. Once they swam off, into the Everglades we went.
He explained the mangrove trees in the Everglades and all about the wildlife. We unfortunately were there in a time of year with not a lot of activity with animals. We did see one alligator though and she even swam up to the boat. I was never nervous. He made us feel very comfortable. I could do that tour a million times even if I never saw any alligators. We are considering being our daughter here for her 16th birthday at the end of August. You don’t see things like this in Las Vegas where we are from. We even ended our day with peel and eat shrimp and Alligator tacos across from the airboat tours! Can’t wait...
Read moreVisiting Naples for February break and found this company on Google for an Everglades airboat ride. Was about an hour ride from downtown Naples with some traffic. Very easy to find. We were taken out right on time. Bryan was our captain and he was wonderful. Very knowledgable about the history of the local area as well as the different animals and vegetation we saw while on the trip. We had the whole boat to ourselves, which included my husband, myself and four teenagers (max 6 passengers). Everyone had the same reaction-very pleasantly surprised with how much fun we all had. The boat ride was a blast with Captain Bryan taking us for a fast ride throught the maze of mangrove trees. We were lucky to see two alligators at the end of the day, one of whom came right up to the boat and gave us a little show. Felt very safe the entire time as the Captain has been doing this for 26 years and was in complete control. Unusual for us to find something we all enjoy because my idea of adventure is not at the level of my teenagers but this will definitely work for all age groups and activity levels. There is an office that sells soft drinks, water, and souvenirs with a seating area to wait for your boat. Faciities and boats were clean and in good working order. Cant recommend...
Read moreLots of options, but these guys are THE pros. From our viewpoint at the RV park across the water, they are the only operator we saw with a very nice building, cleanest boats, uniforms, and protective covers on the seats when they aren’t operating. They have a really nice covered area and gift shop for your (very short) wait.
Also, they are closed on Sunday, which I respect. The others are not.
A huge factor is that they sent three boats at the same time with the captains all talking to each other. This means you have three times the number of eyes looking for wildlife. We saw everything!
We see a 9’ gator, a really cute young one, dolphins and lots of shore birds.
Webb was our captain and he was spectacular. He carefully, but not obnoxiously explained everything we were seeing. Most impressively, he handled the boat like a formula one driver. We zipped through mangrove tunnels on a ride rivaling any amusement park. I never expected that. Several times I thought we would graze a branch or stick protruding from the water and Webb missed it by mere inches.
I can’t recommend this place...
