Food Lion — Local services in Fairview

Very nice grocery store! It's great to have a Food Lion fairly close. However, the Asheville, NC area needs more of them like we used to have. Food Lion has the best prices of any grocery store here and is so much better and less expensive than Ingle's. This store was recently remodeled. It is extremely nice, very well stocked, and clean. The staff is very nice. There are typically cashiers at every checkout lane. Because of this, there is never hardly any wait time. The store always has lots of customers. Thankfully, they do not depend on customer's using self check out and doing their own bagging. Ingle's has a monopoly here in Asheville, which needs to be broken up. Visiting in Ashville, NC until next Saturday Nov 20th. We decided to go ahead and check out a grocery store near our VRBO I read the reviews and looked at all of the photos that were posted on their page. I must say Food Lion did not disappoint. Great selection of fruit, vegetables, meat, cheeses, cake mixes, and Andes candy, which I needed for a cookie recipe. Even found 2 sheet pans together at a great price. (under $7.00) and they were non stick pans as well. Overall, I felt like it was a very good fit for us. It was not too small and not over-sized like big boxed stores. I have always loved this Food Lion and the people who work here, but today they raised the bar. I went in looking to buy a box of envelopes as I needed to mail something next door at the post office. I couldn't find any on the shelf so I asked a young man whom I believe is a manager. He walked over to check the shelf and confirmed they were out of stock. He then walked to the office up front, grabbed four envelopes from the desk, and handed them to me. I told him that was very nice but I could just run down the road and get some at CVS.
