Hidden away on Charlotte hwy is a phenomenal wine bar. Rooted in Wine focuses not only on wines but the glass but in celebrating the local community. Where it is ceramic potter, painting or local cheeses Rooted in Wine brings past of Asheville together.

Every few weeks you can come in to one of their wine tastings and I happened to make my first visit when a winery from Tryon was doing their tasting, at $25 for 6 samples the cost was a great price for an hour or two of relaxation and good company. I was surprised to see so many people all sitting relaxing and talking with one another, it felt more like an old world experience where you have local strangers getting together.

Mountain Brook Vineyards has some nice selections , especially their Merlot but to be honest the star of the show is the host and owner J. Having been in restaurants and food service myself for 30 years it is always a delight when you see an owner with a true passion for not only their job but for their customers. J goes out of his way to engage with each person to the point that you start to feel like an extended family the more you know him. This is a Hallmark that you used to see in small privately owned businesses and restaurants but honestly has fallen to the side in the last 20 years here in America. Wow! We had such a great time here this weekend! We went to check it out excited it had opened up and were blown away by the couple who own it. They are absolutely lovely people, so knowledgeable and helpful and just amazing to talk to ! The wine selections were fantastic and the owner said he changes the menu periodically so you will always have new options to try. They have charcuterie options that were delicious and honestly this is going to be our new favorite go to spot.
