I was looking for a new place to try.
Walking in, I looked around in the meat displays and I did not see any beef tips. I asked the nice gentleman behind the counter if he had any. He then went and back to see if the butcher could cut some up. He came back shortly and said “sure no problem”. Moments later the butcher himself came up with the wrapped beef tips and weighed them. I sat at the counter to be checked out, I said, “Thank you for doing that. I appreciate it.” He replied “Thanks for calling ahead.” In a snarky tone. I replied “Sorry I didn’t know that. This is my first time here.” Then he proceeded with back peddling, realizing what he had done. The one other gentleman in the store behind me looked at me and shock.    Read moreWent to The Butcher's Block for the first (and what will be the last) time today. Ordered two T-Bone steaks and 2 New York Strips. While the woman behind the counter wrapped them, I browsed through their freezer case. BIG MISTAKE, guess I should have watched her. Tonight, as I pulled out what had been a gorgeous pair of T-bones in the case, to let them come to room temp, I was somewhat horrified by what I discovered. Without having asked, the woman had apparently trimmed off the tenderloin portion of the steaks!!!! That's the whole damned point of getting a T-bone steak. The best part of the cut, removed without even a word to me about it (yes they were there in the case so she definitely removed them). No clue what would possess a butcher to do this but needless to say I'm incredibly angry. Not a place I'd ever recommend to...

There is a good amount of Hispanics here in FDL and no where for us to get our meat, so we have to travel far for it. You would get a lot of brown business if you learned a new skill. They say even as a professional you should never...
