Nah. Wanted to love this place ESPECIALLY since I was referred by a celebrity's girlfriend who is a client of Simone's. However, on my first appointment (10am) I arrived on time only to be greeted by two other waiting customers and the shop wasn't even open. When they did arrive and open, there was no apology and Simone herself didn't know I was her client — she literally said "who are you here to see?" I thought that to be strange since I called and made my booking directly with her and I said I was new to the area and a new client. It was not warm, but I chalked it up to maybe the team having a bad day. Then came my second appointment — FAIL. I was running 10 mins late and called ahead as a courtesy as I respect people's time and businesses. Well I arrived and Simone was behind not 1, not 2, but THREE heads and didn't care to tell me or anyone else who was waiting for her. After 45 mins of waiting (I was getting locs retwisted) I think she saw my impatience growing and asked the current client getting braids to leave and come back so she could rush my hair and another gentleman' also getting retwisted. What normally / should only take 90 mins from wash to dry, took 3 hours. Meanwhile, you're entertained by shop assistants who are pretty young and young minded with typical shop talk...entertaining, but honestly it is unprofessional. I left highly annoyed but was like ok, whatever, I'm new to the area so let me get with how they roll down here in South Florida.
WELL, I was a dummy and booked a third appointment in which I arrived again to a closed shop (10am appt). I called and waited 45 mins and heard nothing. THIS HOW BUSINESS IS DONE DOWN HERE?
Beyond disappointed, I wont be back. I never even received a followup call from my voicemails left while I was waiting. The quality of the hair work here is good (nothing out of the ordinary though), but the service and consistency is trash.
It's so unfortunate because we as black and brown people open businesses and get so caught up in being the FIRST of something that we forget to stay invested, focused and showing basic good business ethics to maintain and grow our businesses. If Simone were still in NYC, this shop would have been closed 'cause this type of behavior aint tolerated. Also the relationship dynamics and tension between her and one of her other head stylists (not her sister) is beyond uncomfortable.
Should you read this Simone — please do what you need to get to get your stuff and business together! If no one else will tell you, consider this to be some REAL sisterly advice. Bless and...
Read moreTook my 8 yr old daughter here today for a regular shampoo and twisting of her natural hair. Honestly, I was extremely displeased with customer service received by her stylist Tia. She gave me the impression she was unhappy with her job . Young girl but very grumpy and never ever smiled 1 second in the 3.5 hrs we were there ! I never liked how my daughter was traumatized for over 3 hrs. Who shampooes someone's hair for ONE FULL HOUR ??? Well, that's exactly what happened today..my daughter told me after I left her salon that her neck was killing her and when she lifted her head and was crying out , Tia shoved her head back down in the sink and shouted "Stay still" !!! I was so angry when I heard what she went thru today!! ...one full hour of neck pain and not to mention the extra 2.5 hrs of trauma as she combs my daughter's hair using NO detangler. I went over to her and ask her why she doesn't use detangler, she says she's using a spray detangler 😳! Like really?!, the one I have at home would really do a better job. I believe, it was plain water she had in that bottle people !! Folks, believe me when I say I AM SORRY I TOOK HER THERE. When I shampoo and plait my daughter's hair at home, it takes me total 1.5 hours, No Matter how TANGLED it is. I am praying to God that tomorrow when my daughter wakes up, she will not be complaining of pain in her neck. ! And then she had the audacity to tell me to buy her products for my kid's hair cause her hair really needs it ! I said to her "I don't think so" !!! The best and most professional stylist in that shop is Natalie, hands down. I had a hair experience once with her 1 month ago and she was AWESOME. Guys always go with ur gut feelings, if I had done so today I would have never allowed Tia to touch my child's hair as she turned me OFF at first encounter. Also, please TAKE YOUR KIDS ELSEWHERE if you do not want them to be traumatized !! I tried to attach a pic of my daughter's hairdo but there's no option here to...
Read moreThe worst place I have been to for my natural hair in my 43 years on this earth. So I seen this salon advertised on channel 7 for Black History Month. I decided to give them a chance because I haven’t had anyone touch my natural curly hair in eight years. The first time I went in trying to start a routine for my natural hair, I was told by the stylist Terri to just keep doing what I’m doing, which made no sense to me because I have natural curly hair. I wanted it to be more fuller. I want thicker and healthier hair of which she did not have any idea about that. I decided to give her a chance, she forgot to add a treatment to my hair. I also made an appointment for the following week to get a Bob glued into my hair being that I was going on a romantic getaway. The day of service I went and got my hair done and I kid you not three hours later I looked it like a Chia pet. I don’t know what she did to my natural hair. I had hair tracks falling out the whole time. I had to wear a hat, I stayed at the Ritz Carlton, all the photos I took I had a hat on. When I return back, I reached out to one of the owners. She told me that she could not give me back some of my money and she was going to speak with her partner regarding this situation. It is now November 1 and they have not reached out to me, I was also told that I was going to get a credit towards another service. I don’t know what she put in my hair. My hair has been falling out in clunks. I literally have a small fro. I am doing this review because I know how much, a person care about their natural hair and I cried for a whole month about losing my hair that I’ve been growing for over 15 years. If you, love your hair and you don’t want it to fall out. I advise you to go somewhere else and that’s my...
