C. Crane — Local services in Fortuna

I purchased the CC Skywave 2 radio to compare it with its Chinese knock-off, the SIHUADON R108. I specifically tested the Airband performance as that was the only reason I purchased either radio. I live near an airport and frequently go to the airport for planespotting. I need to listen to Airband frequencies in real-time as web-based radio feeds are inherently delayed and you can miss critical events, such as go-arounds. I fully expected the CC Skywave 2 to outperform the SIHUADON R108 and boy was I shocked! The CC Skywave 2 was downright awful for Airband reception. I fully read the 37-page manual to see if there was anything I could do to improve the performance. The bandwidth setting did nothing except make the static noise more annoying. The squelch setting also was terrible and I couldn't understand why. I set it to the lowest I could before it was just constant static and it would cut off pilots and ATC mid-sentence! None of these issues were present with the R108 and I tested both radios in the exact same spot, independently. Frankly, I'm extremely disappointed in the CC Skywave 2, especially given it's twice the price of the R108. In the event C. Just bought the 2nd Solar Observer radio for my personal use. It arrived quickly, C Crane should either raise the price or make it more clear that you do not get the CC Solar Observer 5V AC Adapter with the purchase, because it seems difficult to use the radio's capabilities without this, "accessory." I had to order the CC Solar Observer 5V AC Adapter after the radio had arrived and we read the directions -- but my inlaws probably didn't have the CC Solar Observer 5V AC Adapter and therefor couldn't follow the instructions on properly prepping the solar/crank and rechargable battery pack which is one of the critical reasons to have this awesome radio. One previous purchase of the same Solar Observer radio was for my in laws who weathered Hurricane Sandy and some other extreme weather that left them without power for an extended time and they did use this radio and the flashlight features to get them and their neighbors through. My own Mom has one of C Crane's world band radios (she loves it) which is the next purchase my husband and I plan...

Amazing customer service and support. I ordered a CC Vector RV long range wifi repeater in order to get my home wifi into my RV. It is a beautiful system, came with all the hardware simple and quick instructions and assembly requirements for anybody with little common sense. Setup took just a few minutes. Now, I did have a stability issue where the system would disconnect and reconnect after about 10 minutes. I called their 800 number, got customer support who didn't try to talk down to me. Gave me benefit of doubt everything was setup per instructions. Then after hearing how the system worked sent me an Alfa network adapter that simply plugged into the antenna USB then to my wifi router. It was exactly what was needed.
