Grocery Outlet — Local services in Fountain Valley

TLDR: They will deceptively charge you for things you don't want.

The cashier was nice enough, we had some small banter and I just finished telling her that I wasn't from the area which is why I was buying a bunch of random stuff since there is not a grocery outlet near me. She asked if I wanted to do a $5 donation for a $5 coupon. I asked if it's a wash and nothing out of pocket today. She says yes. My card was already tapped when I said okay but then tried to quickly clarify "wait so it applies it today right?" She said "no you can't use it today". I responded to her I didn't want it since I just finished telling her that I didn't have a location near me which is why I don't get to go often. She just looked at me and just said "oh sorry it already went through" and did not refund. I know it's only $5 but I feel like it's very deceptive to not tell people that they have to spend $25 to get the coupon and that they have to do it within a specific date window in the next couple weeks.

I emailed the manager and asked if this was how he was running his store... if he's telling his employees to leave that part out on purpose and lie when people asked if it's a wash? He replied with "We are trying to raise money for the families in our community and unfortunately the way she explained it was confusing. In the small time frame our cashiers have to explain the fundraiser things can be misunderstood on both ends."

This is a BS excuse! $5 off coupon is 5 syllables and $5 off 25 coupon is 8 syllables. It's not much more to say, especially when we have time to go back and forth with small talk as well as her answering my questions about it being a wash and not coming out of my pocket that day. How was it that we had enough time for that? But she didn't have enough time to answer honestly and say no when I asked if it would be a wash with nothing out of pocket that day?

This was all just an excuse to trick people. You shouldn't have to do the wrong thing to raise money for the right thing. If it how this individually owned location conducted business then I think everyone should know what they're getting themselves into because this was not a fair practice. How deeply...

Store setup very nice and neat. onthere. I was in the back, there were 2 employees arguing about who worked harder. Who did more pretty hostile. I remember thinking how unprofessional it was and how their boss would like to see it. The female noticed that I was watching them and she approached me angrily and asked why I had left some items in the cart a couple weeks back. I was totally shocked didn't know what she was talking about. I remembered I had to leave in an emergency .They still argued with me said it cost them money and on and on, I was completely flabbergasted. They must have watched security footage for hours and then remembered who I am for like, 3 items in a cart? None of which were refrigerated. I ended up having a terrible fight with them. Turns out they're the owners and they are a young couple. And they're married, they better learn how to do customers service. This new grocery outlet fountainfvalley and brookhurst, was there for grand opening I waited on the lined for 2 hrs. in the heavy rain, they said they going give away least is 5 dlrs..I was disappointed about thier store and employees are stucked up mean ,and to asked for all this time I'm here waited on the line, I only get 3 dlrs coupon they gaved me.i cud walk out before I wasted my time , my experienced for first time shopping here are ,disappointed me, I been shopping at other grocery outlet for over 20 years in different brand and places store..this not good placed to go..i will .never going back here again...
