I had one of the most upsetting experiences here at Evergreen. I arrived 30 minutes early with my 3 year old son. We bought hot dogs, checked in at the pro shop and chipped on the putting green. When our time was near we headed to the starter. The starter told me and another single golfer to go ahead and play as our pairings were running late. My son was in a stroller with my clubs inside as well. We headed to the first tee and teed off without any issues. Halfway through hole 2 the golf manager, Tim, rolls up and yelled at me, “What are you doing? You can’t have him out here. You got an email and you should know.” I was taken back as I had passed many staff members and check points where I was never told this would be an issue. I was very upset that I was being yelled at, this was no way any manager should resolve an issue. He then made the issue worse by accusing me of not having my son at hole one. At this point I was stunned because I was being told I was hiding my son and lying that he was there at all. The group behind me pulls up and the manager gets even more angry by saying I couldn’t have more than 4 people in our group but they weren’t golfing with me and the other single. One of the group members speaks up and address the manager by name. He told the manager they weren’t in our group and that my son was with me on hole 1. But the manager didn’t listen because that person was actually an employee. I was asked to return to the pro shop to pay for my son being on the course as if he was playing. I thought that was ridiculous and said I was going to finish the front 9 as I was already playing. I finished the front 9 but stopped at the shop to see if I was going to be able to play the back 9. The manager was still insistent that I pay full price for my 3 year old to be with me. Even though I wasn’t taking up another golf cart and I was keeping up with pace of play on an already backed up day. I told him I wouldn’t be doing that and was given my refund for the back half. I would run into the group member behind who told me he worked there. He also told me Tim the manager told him to never speak up for a customer again. Tim did not want to be undermined. I thank that employee for being honest that day and speaking up for me. I hope that he continues to do so and not let Tim the manager make him fear he can never speak up for a customer and tell the truth. I appreciate my refund but I’d appreciate a new course manager that doesn’t yell at their customers regardless if they saw an email or not. Denver golf please do better with this — I’d like to play there again but I don’t want to be yelled at or...
Read moreThis golf course has been on my list to play for multiple seasons now so I finally decided to make the trip and check it out. First and foremost even coming from Castle Rock the drive wasn't bad atall (right an an hour) and with my morning tee time traffic was present but not a major issue. Once I arrive the facilities were nice, good practice green, well kept clubhouse, and easy parking. There wasn't a driving range which isn't ideal for me as I like to hit 20-30 balls before my round, however the space this course is built on doesn't really make a range possible. Once on the course the length is very short and playing at the altitude made it play even shorter. With 2 sets of tees I played the back set and my girlfriend comfortably played the forward set. I believe I hit driver 2-3 times total however the green complexes and layout did a good job making the course challenging in spite of the length. The greens are pretty small, rolled fast, and had plenty of decieving breaks. I was a little disappointed that in July the greens were still sandy and not very healthy yet, but being mountain golf in Co that can be a very difficult thing to achieve. I also understand that the day I played they had just rolled them in the morning so they would proabably play slower than I experienced most days. I intend on returning occasionally to get some variety in my seasons and would say that bang for the buck does favor into this being what I would call a good course at...
Read moreThe good: spectacular views, fairly challenging with lots of slopes at play. Friendly on the course staff, our starter gave us some great pointers and the player ambassadors were all over the course trying to keep things moving. Fairways and rough were generally in good condition. Course was generally clean and well-kept. The new bathroom on 4/17 was nice and clean. A handful of improvement projects throughout the course, which I consider a good thing as the course works to expand and make conditions better. Looking forward to playing this course again late season and next year as well.
The bad: the course was extremely busy, the front nine took 2 hours and 45 minutes for our foursome to finish. I think the course layout generally leads to some backups, but when I was checking in at the pro shop, I overheard an employee telling a foursome they could “be squeezed in” on a busy Saturday with a frost delay, I wonder how many other people out there didn’t reserve a tee time. A lot of the greens were also in rough shape, I understand it’s still early in the season, but several greens were mostly dirt with no grass. Some of the restaurant staff were useless, two bartenders spent all of their time talking to some regulars while one poor waitress was doing all of the work and running around serving 10+ tables. We were waiting 10 minute to cash out and the bar wouldn’t let us cash out at the bar when our tee time was...
