Ah, dear readers, allow me to take you on a nostalgic journey to the shimmering expanse of Evergreen Lake. As a sprightly youth, this enchanting realm was my winter wonderland. With blades strapped to my feet, I'd dance upon the icy canvas, every glide and pirouette a testament to the pure, unbridled joy that these frozen waters bestowed upon my young heart.
Now, imagine a scene straight out of a painter's dream. I, with my trusted crew of two, arrived at this very lake, our hearts brimming with a vision. This time, however, our stage was set not for a dance, but for a cinematic masterpiece. As the chosen director, I had at my disposal the finest fishing equipment, a robust canoe, and a cast of actors with a depth of sailing knowledge that would make seasoned mariners nod in approval.
The convenience of this location cannot be overstated. Parking was but a brief stroll away, and the majestic Lake House served as the perfect backdrop. Its beauty, however, was occasionally overshadowed by the boisterous sounds of a wedding celebration. During our sojourn, a local fisherman, with wisdom etched in his eyes, approached. With an air of confidentiality, he divulged the spots where the lake's treasures lay abundant. Although we confessed that our fishing was mere pretense for the camera, his warmth and camaraderie were a reflection of Evergreen's welcoming spirit.
A note of significance: Evergreen Lake, in its boundless generosity, has streamlined the process of securing filming permits, making them not just accessible but delightfully affordable. A haven for visionaries and artists, this lake has proven itself to be the muse for many a storyteller.
As the day's work drew to a close and shadows lengthened, the echoes of my past beckoned me once more. I found myself drawn, almost magnetically, to the familiar sounds down the lane. The local pub, a repository of my childhood memories, awaited. The rhythmic clinks and clashes of air hockey pucks resonated with the cadence of bygone days, wrapping up a day of work and...
Read moreI have been coming to this lake every year since I was four years old. However I can for sure say eighteen years later I will never, ever come back to this lake again. If you're looking for a place to rent a boat and go paddle around a lake this is a good place for that. If you're looking for a good place to fish and enjoy a nice quiet afternoon this is no longer the place. Over the years this place has become dirty, noisy and over crowded. What used to be good fishing spots is now taken by boat rental. Other fishing spots have been taken up by boardwalk that has been installed over the year and the remainder of the fishing spots are either too shallow so you always snag your line in the bottom of the lake or over crowded. This lake has turned into nothing more than a tourist trap. The boat rental location was moved from the lodge to it's own individual building. The best fishing spot has been blocked off by said boat rental and they will not let you fish. There is so many people on the water it scares all the fish away and so many people driving by and walking around that it's no longer peaceful. I have had some great childhood memories at this lake and it is officially time to say goodbye and put them to rest. It's sad to see yet another place ruined by the insatiable desire to make money.
Update: Now you have to pay here. I posted this review two years ago. All my life this place has never charged people to fish. When I called this place a tourist trap two years ago I...
Read moreBeautiful place to go for a walk around the lake, listen to the birds and wildlife, watch people fishing (or fish yourself) and participate in water activities, all non motorized, like paddle boarding, paddle boating, canoeing and kayaking. There’s a great nature center to visit and learn all about the local wildlife. I watched a Bald Eagle “chase” a seagull (land gull) which was fascinating- it apparently had a death grip on a fish the eagle wanted. The other bird dropped the fish and according to one boater, the fish swam away! The eagle then lost interest. I love Evergreen Lake - the only reason why I give it 4-stars is due to the traffic noise you can hear from the road... it kind of takes away from the tranquility. It’s a nice walk around the lake though and you can visit downtown Evergreen at...
